Sparkles removal?

Been away for a year back recently.

Can’t find a way to disable them, they’re most annoying.

What do you mean exactly by Sparkles?

If it’s a visual on your character have you checked to see if it’s in your buffs list and if so have you tried to right-click on it?

The sparkles on NPC quest givers they are visual.

Why they were added I have no clue doesn’t seem to serve any purpose that an exclamation mark can’t do (as in get your attention).

Interesting… I’ve never seen Sparkles on NPC’s, just on quest objectives (items you have to loot).

Wonder why i don’t see the sparkles. Looking through settings and i can’t see anything for that either.

I know it’s not add-on related as I don’t use any.

Yeah i didn’t suggest an addon as I think that would be beyond the capability of an addon anyway.

Just been back in-game checking it out with other characters.

Not all NPC quest givers sparkle, which is odd in itself.

Just been experimenting and i found if you have outlined mode set to disabled i see Sparkles on some NPC’s

Graphics → Advanced → Outline Mode

I have all settings at max which meant that one was on High and i was getting no sparkles with that.

There’s also a setting to adjust which things the Outline Mode effects under Gameplay > Interface > Display.

I was going to suggest outline, mine doesn’t sparkle either though.

I want sparkles!

Ok, thanks for that suggestion.

Been in-game and tried it.

With ‘outline mode’ set to high you get a thick yellow outline, which makes them look like cardboard cut-outs. Which actually looks even worse. The middle setting is the same.

Disable ‘outline mode’ and then it’s back to sparkles.

Did you try setting this one to disabled?

I have the Graphics one set to high which seems to disable sparkles. Then if i set the other setting to disabled the thick line is disabled. Though it might be better to try set it to Quest Objectives only so you can see lootable things in the world easier.

Sparkles?! — Do you mean the outline?

Option > Interface > Outline Mode > (drop-down menu, select) Disabled.

Tried both outline modes in all combinations.

I either get yellow outlines or sparkles.

Some quest givers sparkle until you accept their quest.

Yeah i’ve just noticed that some NPC’s ignore the settings such as the renown vendors which i don’t even have a quest with. I can’t see a way to remove both Sparkles and Outline at the same time from them. Seems to be one or the other.

That’s my conclusion as well.

Maybe Blizz would like to comment?

If they are supposed to be visual aids then giving visual aids to those that don’t need them detracts from the game. Visual aids only add something to a game if they’re needed.

So please Blizz give us the ability to turn them off as the majority of the players won’t need them.

Unlikely Blizz will comment. There’s a small handful of forum moderators but anyone that has anything to do with game design don’t read these forums.

Best thing you could do i guess would be to submit feedback which you can do from the support option in game. (though you won’t get a reply from that either).

They might not read them, but they could be pointed in the right direction.

Googled it.

/run WorldFrame:HookScript(“OnUpdate”,function()SetCVar(“Outline”,0)end)

If this works…

… you can then just install this addon.

No Questgiver Sparkles
