When do you use Spatial Rift?
I never use it.
The animation moves with the same speed as I am running.
(Rarely) in PvP and basically nowhere else. Its due a rework for sure.
Well it have a bit niche usage
Sometimes to pass through a pack of mobs or send it through between two rocks where you can’t squeeze yourself through but you spatial just might
In SL (and in BfA even) it was quite usefull with the Venthyr shadow step to have several “portals” - especially without flying, and in Castle Nathria to “blink” through the deadly spiked balls in the Raid
Even used it with my Warlock in the Green fire quest to cheat my way through in the Black Temple deadly maze
By all means it is not the best racial, but still not the worst and used it enough time to have it on the skillbar
Obviously the class is a factor here, a mage have blink(s), but having another one is cool, while a warrior will just fight but for the more squishy classes?
Not that bad to have
its only useful if your class has a movement spell that instantly puts you forward e.g. blink, charge etc. and you want to use the rift to go back more or less where you came from.
in pve this happens basically never. technically you can use it as melee to get out of a boss circle when it has a fixed timer, but pratically it maybe gives you 1s more uptime
It is situationally useful. It suffers from the same problem some paladin utility tends to: in its niche it can trivialize specific dangerous mechanics, while it is merely a delayed teleport otherwise.
I heard it has some really decent uses in PvP.
The problem with it is that it is not a “Click and get results” ability. You have to think ahead on what you want to use it for.
And thus it will be useless for 80% of the population aleast, if not more.
Indeed
Most of the players don’t really like to think and plan ahead
I love my psatial
Sure as an instant would be better, but while it is deleyed (not that bad thing itself) and you have to think how to and where to send it makes it interersting
I think there are no magi out there who not blinked themselves in to death because of a bad position and instant result at least once…
In arberus, in the nelth fight u can use it to port through the walls to get back into the raid if u accidently didnt move the right way
Thats a death for any other race. Remember i found this out on my mage when once i messed up
I sometimes use it to skip some mobs. I guess it’s best used in PvP. Both battlegrounds and arenas.
One of my favorite scenarios: Warsong Gulch - I pick up the flag and start running towards our base. When I leave the tunnel, I see bunch of Horde running towards me. I use the spell, then start running left - in the same direction as they are - towards ramp. I confuse them as they don’t understand why would I be running that way. And just when buff is about to end for me to use the teleport, I do it and I’m suddenly in the middle of map with others pulling me and speeding me up towards the base.
I guess it kinda needs some rework to make it more useful like Worgen’s speed racial. I wouldn’t mind it becoming Doors of Shadows 2.0 heh.
I used it to skip traps in Torghast… since SL… huh, thx for reminding me about the ability, but yeah, wouldn’t know where to use it in DF… maybe to skip the fire wall in Uldaman golem boss? But then again, why risk that if you can just play it normally?
If you’re about to drop fire that you will have to move out of (like on Watcher Irideus in HoI), you can precast SR and activate it after you’ve dropped the fire.
Spatial Rift is an oddly shaped peg and does not fit into the Blink or Sprint holes.
