I’ve seen a few posts, even contributed to one regarding new classes or adding spears to the game. So here’s my spin on it.
A new class designed around wielding spears and a shield. Three specs, Tank, Melee and Ranged.
Tank:
Shield charge, rush in bash your target with your shield causing a high amount of threat as your opener.
Your stuns, blocks and deflections all revolve around your shield, with the spear being used to taunt, nip, slow and generally pull aggro onto you.
You have a root skill where you stab the target in the foot with your spear, either holding them in place or slowing them.
Melee:
You’re more focused on using your spear. Your shield is all about damage reduction and for an interrupt.
Your spear focus poisons the target, with a special attack that whirls the spear around your head inflicting a DoT on every target around you (with the five limit).
You also have a root skill where you stab the target in the foot with your spear, either holding them in place or slowing them.
You have a short fast, channelled attack that inflicts damage to everything in a short cone in front of you.
Ranged:
No shield for you. Your single spear is larger and requires two hands to use. You’re attacks are all about power.
You have throws that knockback the target. Throws that stun the target. Or throws that just deal damage, with a special powered throw that does massive damage.
You would have a slow, where you throw a special spear that would stick in the target slowing them down. With a limit on how many could be used to slow a target.
Like most ranged specs you have an AoE. Yours calls down a shower of spears that inflict damage and slow all targets caught in the area.
Like some hunters there would be an explosive spear that detonates on contact inflicting damage to all enemies around the target or target area.
If poison sounds too much like some sort of armoured Rogue. The DoTs could be fire damage, or shadow damage or in the case of the tank cold damage to further slow down the target and keep them close to the tank.
Probably work best as a mail armour class.
