Spear of Bastion in Dragonflight

Spear of Bastion will be a talent in the new Dragonflight talent trees, and while i have nothing against the ability itself, it’s visuals bother me. It looked fine for Shadowlands, being tied to the Kyrian covenant, but i feel like they should change the visuals now that is is no longer tied to Kyrians and make it look more like a warrior ability than a Kyrian ability.
I already suggested this to the devs, i was just wondering if anyone feel the same, or if you are happy with the way it looks now?

I think the aesthetic is far too magical for Warriors.

They should make the spear effect less glowy, replace the ground effect with something similar to Shaman’s Earthquake and make the tethers into physical chains, rather than blue beams.

Either by change or by glyph.

I totally agree. It needs to appear as something more phisical and less magical.

I think it was honestly a mistake to add this for DF, it was never an ability that made any sense for a Warrior and it got put in purely due to it being the popular M+ choice, and it was the popular M+ choice mostly due to tuning.

Any ability where you have to manually place damage on an area of the ground for it to do magical damage just doesn’t make sense for a Warrior which is a completely non magical class based on physically attacking opponents with weapons in hand.

Not only does it not look like a warrior ability, its really hard to see whats happening under or inside the spear ability… Multiple deaths on my own part and group members because they couldnt see what was under it…

Unlike Condemn!
I never really liked Condemn, but raiding yday made me realise it is a MUST have for how the talent tree is made in dragonflight.

It looks totally out of place. Needs a graphical overhaul or glyph.

I totally agree Spear of Bastion visual should be reworked to better fit warrior looking less magical. But it’s pretty good ability for PvP and I’m happy I’ll have it in DF.

I liked Condemn but we are all kidding ourselves if we saw it as anything other than a bandaid for what was ultimately bad class design. I enjoyed it because I could (S1 perspective) do huge openers with signet and that felt good, but outside of those windows the class was literally trash, it even performed like literal trash when you weren’t using Condemn.

I don’t think that Execute spam openers is really the way to go for the spec, it’s a fun borrowed power for 1 content patch (like if it was a set bonus) but it really is just a bandaid.

It’s like how they put a bandaid on Arms in Hellfire Citadel by having the set bonus buff rend and cause it to proc Mortal Strike, and also having the Archi trinket reset CS… Those changes transformed the spec as a bandaid fix for what it had been before, which was just maintaining rend pressing MS on cooldown and spamming whirlwind, literally.

They actually made Arms into a really well round and fun interactive spec in Legion, which is all the more frustrating why they decided to ruin it with another redesign. I won’t claim to be an expert on retail warrior anymore, anyone can see my profile I haven’t played much since S1, but this DF iteration feels pretty underwhelming.

I haven’t played Fury enough to have an opinion yet, but as I’ve mentioned not having Bladestorm is a negative for me.

Because it was “too hard”.
Same with Arms in Shadowlands.
It required more then pressing 2 skills for rage, press rage spender rince repeat.
They can’t have that anymore, it is “not casual friendly”.
Fury is the most played melee spec because some find it entertaining.
So far the most Arms PvE Warriors I asked are Arms because Fury is braindead boring.

My sub expires in 6 days and it will stay expired untill they make some changes to make it more intresting to play, Arms right now is just as braindead (even more with Condemn) then Fury :man_facepalming:

Agree the bright blue color is 2 much some times.

I wish they would just replace it with something else (or change the graphic at the very least) cause you know it will be mandatory skill for M+ and PvP and probably raiding as well. It was fine for SL Kyrian Covenant ability but it doesn’t fit DF Warrior at all and I’m not looking forward to using it for the whole next expansion and probably even longer.

Nah.
For Fury maybe, for Arms nah.
(I also preffered NF over Kyrian in SL)

They need to add transmog to skill this could be the right moment… I cant see this spear as an orc warrior U.U

my suggestion was a chain effect that sorrounds the enemy and chain it to the location

That or a hole in the ground turning it into a quicksand vortex.

Agreed, in SL you could justify the color and effects as part of the Kyrian covenant but now it just looks way out of place as a talented warrior ability.

It’s very good for PvP. I don’t care much aboiut visuals, because everything is too flamboyant these days.

Spear of “BASTION”. Bastion? Yes where kyrians are settled. Still a Kyirians skill even in warrior tree in DF. Normal it keeps same visuals. I like visuals tbh.

I prefer shockwave or thunderous roar for bleedz
