Spellsteal Specific Interactions

Lok’Thar Ogar!

I have a question regarding the older versions of WoW (maybe some of them hold up to Shadowlands as well, but I’m not sure).

I’ve been enjoying Classic lately, and as I spent one evening scrolling through the different spells and additions to the game over the course of later expansions, I came across an interesting interaction:

I’m gonna suppose WoW TBC, WotLK Classic are gonna be released later down the line, and I couldn’t find definitive proof of this, so hear me out:

Mages in TBC get the ability called ‘Spellsteal’.

Spellsteal steals a magic buff from an enemy player, and puts it onto the mage instead.

Paladins have an ability called Blessing of Sacrifice in tbc, which they used to break cc-s that broke on dmg taken, if their arena partner got dmg while under the effect of that buff.

However, that buff is magic, and mages can spellsteal it. I know from WotLK era, skilled mages did that, and had a macro to instantly remove the buff from themselves.

So the question is this:

If a mage spellstole a Blessing of Sacrifice from an enemy in arena, then for the remaining duration the dmg the mage took would be redirected to the enemy paladin right?

If not, why would anyone care to remove the buff instantly, if not for the possibility of breaking poly on the enemy pally this way?

In WotLK paladins get 2 spells, that have a specific condition, that they can be only on one target per caster at any one time.

One of these is Beacon of Light, which is a magic buff, and can be stolen by the mage, the other is sacred shield, both the buff that gives the shield proc every 6 seconds on dmg taken, and the shield itself.

If a mage spellsteals Beacon and the paladin heals someone, the mage gets healed as well?

And if the paladin casts sacred shield on a different target than the mage that spellstole the buff, the spellstolen buff should fall off the mage right? (Also the same with beacon of light, they work kinda the same in this regard.)

I’m looking for any proof of either behavior, I couldn’t find any WCM videos from that period that depict these interactions, and I’m afraid, my memories are somewhat shady and mixed up with later expansions.

Thanks!

I remember them as you mentioned, but some reassurance would be nice.
I suppose you’ve already finished digging through old wowhead comments and stuff like that?

Yup I did look through most of them. At least what I could find…
