Spirit Beast taming on High pop server Silvermoon

Hello guys,
do not know if this is the correct forum to write this at, but here goes:

Recently I got into Hunter, I am having a blast, the BM is simple, mobile, class fantasy is just fantastic and I will main him for Shadowlands, anyway, I would really really really get that cat Loquenahak from Scholazar Basin or any other Spirit beast from Northrend (I already tamed Ghostcrawler and the Gryphon from Stormwind, but they are nowhere as much cool as Loquenahak).

The main issue is that no matter at which hour I go to Northrend, there is always like 3 hunters if I type /who (on the /who note, I really do not know how it works since sometimes it does not find the player in /who but I can see him circling Scholazar, even if he falls into the criteria that was typed in /who).

Scholazar basin so far, I have been flying there at least 4-5 times a day, whenever I wait for queue or have a spare time, I usually circle for 20 minutes, before doing a full circle of Northrend Spirit beasts, I also tried with my friend, he created a DK on low pop RP server, but there were also a bunch of hunter players there, anyway I guess I had luck and at least got King Krush.

Stormpeaks, Skoll, that is basically a big nono I guess, a bazillion of players there, hunting for time-lost, usually 5-6 hunters.

Zuldrak I guess would be the way to go, I usually see only one other hunter there, checking for Gondria I guess is her name ?

Grizzly hills, there is a Tauren that is sitting there for the 4th day now, waiting for Arcturis, the spirit bear.

What I do not really want is to download some alarm addon and afk at one spot, waiting for it to go off, is there some other strategy which would improve my random fly around technique ? Like any specific time that has worked for you guys ? Thank you in advance for reading this wall of text and for your kind suggestions !

You just have to be lucky, or you can try realm hop and see if the kitty has spawned somewhere else =)

If you want the ghostly look but not a spirit beast there are some others - Wise Olm in northen Felwood is a ghostly owl =) very nice and almost always there, even though he is rare =P

Petopia has every pet there is! A very handy guide to all hunters =)

You can try with warmode on, there are usually fewer people with it enabled.

… Until they read this message, so gotta go fast :stuck_out_tongue:

Ask your friend to create trial toon on low pop and ask him nicely to go to rare spawn and if its there just ask for an invite. voila

I tried bypassing the CRZ and did some server hopping by asking my friend to create Death knight on low pop RP server, but, somehow everyone knows about this trick, there were like 6 hunters and 6 Death Knights in Scholazar :frowning: Been camping Ankha and Magria for 5 hours now, this is the most boring stuff I ever did, just staying there naked, waiting for them to spawn.

Gosh, I’m glad I tamed those pets back in WotLK when there wasn’t any CRZ.

I wanted to tame Loque’nahak again, since now it retains its original name, but no luck so far.

I wish you good luck! The original SB are still the best imho, expecially Skoll! (still my main pet since 10 years)

I have most of them since Wotlk. I remember that setting your alarm really early (like 4am) on a workday has worked for me in the past. The longest I ever waited was for Humar the Pride Lord in BC. Three day’s waiting in that tree! :flushed:

Guys, I really set of my mind on catching Ankha or Magria today, and I am proud to say that after 5 hours and 46 minutes, my addon started beeping, heart started racing, never went full nude mode, Aspect of turtle, freezing trap (probably an overkill to do all three :D) and tame at the same time so fast, but I got Ankha, and it was just a very good feeling

I have a char on a very low pop server alliance side if you want to try Riverdeep#2538

Only really works if your friend is in that zone at same time

Yeah, we did that, he was in the same zone and invited me. Even tried killing a few mobs on my realm to see if when he invites me, the realm really phases to his.

But hey, if you are ever in the mood, I will add you and we can try searching for Loquenahak in Scholazar, that would be really helpful and appreciated, will add you

Black lion from Barrens? I remember that I tamed him when I leveled my first hunter (actually this character) Looks really dated now though!

And grats to OP!

It’s about 12-13 ears ago that I tamed him. Now I see him every time I pass by that tree. Nobody wants him anymore!

Same! I just checked, he was waiting for me! I tamed him again, it’s cool that he keeps his long name now!

One thing to try is non English speaking RP realms using the trial character option, due to cross realm zones it’s not as easy as it was.

Also it always goes to the player with the higher levels CRZ.

For sprit bear and loq - I wont suggest to camp it for long time. Park your char there - log in - check for 10 mins - log out. I got loq even without trying - it kinda took 1 month. Also people will kill loq for frostbitten achiv.

Skoll is easy - just camp for 4 hours.

Be glad you weren’t there during WotLK.

Be VERY glad.

The add on I used (no idea if it still viable) was NPC_Scan. It would immediately alert you when a rare in it’s as of yet unfound database (when it spawned you would have to go and replace it’s NPC id code back into NPC_Scan’s database so it would trigger) would spawn and it wouid play an audible alarm. I cannot even begin to tell you how camped he was. By other players not just hunters, because he was part of the meta rare achieve for killing all the rares. Mix that in with 9 spawn points all in a rough circle round the map and it was almost orgasmic if he spawned right on your feet and you had the chance. to snag him. Hunter etiquette was that whoever started a tame was allowed to finish it but you would get the occasional git who would either kill it or try to interrupt your tame.

Luckilly I still lived in the UK at that time and was a night owl so I had the advanatge of a late night camp. many was the time i would leave my pc on, have the sound up full, and do something else and wait for the War drums to beat to let me know at least either the parrot, King Krush or Loque had spawned.

I don’t know why but this has worked for me countless times:

A tip is to look around with warmode on. If nothing, head to a rest area in the same zone and deactivate warmode. Try again and 9/10 times you might find the spiritbeast.

If you want the ghost owl Ban’thalos from Hyjal be aware you must quest there until you have unlocked the daily quests at the location it can be found (can’t remember what it’s called), before the rare can be seen.
