Hey, what do you think about hunters using spirit beasts in role play? Personally I have nothing against it and have seen people use them, but still wanting to hear few second opinions on it. Would it be okay for a Sentinel to have a spirit beast or two around as in being spirits of her fallen companions and how lore-friendly would such resolution for their presence be? As I've also understood that Night Elves would gravely oppose raising dead, would that also be the case for spirit magic or such to keep the spirits of your former pets around?
I see no problems at all.
If the spirit beast are deceased companions, then that would only show how strong a bond their share.
But they could also be spiritual animals called from another place than the afterlife. Either following you because of a contract or based on trust.
In the dullest boring grey town, there will always be one person who decides to paint the chimney in another colour than the rest.
That night elf could be the one with spirit animals. So who cares about lore, if you play it well or if you enjoy it :)
I can only see an interesting character development with another traits than the normal :)
Edit: Typos

Its an interesting question you ask, and as such, I'll try to explain it properly.
Are Hunters slightly 'Magicky' in what they can do?
Yes.
Yes they are. Every class is, especially organisations like the Sentinels and the Farstriders. They both are far more than someone who is just 'Good at shooting a bow'.
Also, consider the nature of Undead. There is a vast difference between a rent asunder human, twisted and torn, being dragged howling from the grave, with a ravening hunger to cause malice, and a creature that gives of its spirit, so that it may accompany their boon companion in life, even after their death.
It seems pretty likely that Spirit Animals are there because they want to be, same as any other Hunter's Pet. In most cases there is a bond, alright, maybe not the mechanical ones, but I don't think they class as 'Undead' as such, Spirit Beasts. I mean if Brigante saw a Ranger with a Spirit Beast he would be wide eyed, intrigued and doubtlessly have questions, but that is purely because he has never seen one before. At no point would I be "Err, no, OOC that's impossible" Its completely possible, just give thought as to how it came about, as you can be sure people will ask questions, I know I would, if I saw a ghostly cat/owl beside someone.
