I was not able to find answer to this with quick googling. Do you even pick spirit bomb, if you are planning on using Fiery Soul legendary?
If you absorb souls with spirit bomb, the legendary effect is useless. So what to do? Sometimes I do take some souls with soul cleave, but its mistake when that happens, I believe.
If you do still pick spirit bomb, what is the good use then?
edit: also, Im very casual, so I wont be doing any high end content. I’d still like to understand what is “right way”.
If you want to play the ‘fiery brand’ build, basically, you’re going to take agonizing flames, burning alive and charred flesh as your talents.
Agonizing Flames increased the duration of immolation aura by 50% and your movement speed by 20% while active.
Burning Alive makes fiery brand spread to one nearby enemy every 2 seconds.
Charred Flesh makes immolation aura increase the duration of fiery brand by 0.50 sec.
This is a defensive build, all of those talents interact with fiery brand/immolation aura, in turn, increasing your survivability by reducing the damage the mobs do you to by 40%.
If you’re not planning to be doing high end content, you should be fine running the spirit bomb build which you can check out HERE.
Basically if you’re using the fiery brand legendary, its not as effective the taking spirit bomb talent because like you said, using souls for spirit bomb and not using soul cleave to reduce the CD of fiery brand is the whole point of the build. Plus you give up the charred flesh talent which is part of the ‘fiery brand’ build.
I would recommend doing your own research on this and see what feels good for you. There’s guides on youtube for the fiery brand/spirit bomb builds, you can check out Quazii HERE, he does a good job explaining the differences and the rotations for both.
The thing is, I’m not kyrian and wont be kyrian. At least not until I have collected all the stuff I can from venthyr.
No guide tells me anything what I should use for legendary, if I want spirit bomb build without being kyrian. At least not until I can get legendary from a raid. But I think I should be picking something before that. Do I just have to wait… or perhaps make rank1 legendary and then get another?

I think that using spirit bomb with fiery souls or Razelikh’s Defilement with spirit bomb is kind of pointless as you mostly rely on spirit bomb, not soul cleave. You can do soul cleave and only use spirit bomb to refresh the dot but still, kind of redundant. Although, on raider io I see that most vengance guys who did +15 are using spirit bomb build
At the end of the day, play what feels fun. That’s what makes you wanting to log back in and go again. Guides are there to provide information. What you do with that information is up to you, after-all. it’s your subscription, play the way you like
