I’m actually glad I saw this on WoWhead earlier.

Means, I don’t have to stick around for it and can just unsub until 10.0.

I am so glad she clarified that she did not serve any man and that everything was her own action. God forbid a man manipulated her :scream: muh kween

Gotta give it to blizzard for this one… It wasn’t half bad. Sylvanas looking upon her sisters before jumping into Hell it self.

Tyrande sounded awful, like she had the world’s worst sore throat, or was trying to meme some old Hammer Horror film or something.

It was completely inappropriate for the Arbiter to abdicate his role.

But the result was fittting.

Would have been much better if it had been reached between her and the Arbiter though.

The owl part made me sad tho! Don’t care about Sylvanas BUT why throw the owl into the maw?

At this point I don’t even care about the lore in Warcraft more. In my mind are Warcraft still WC3 lore - Wrath! Since mop it has been dog :poop: (except legion). Wanna play some WC3 and drink jolt?

It’s Sylvanas we’re talking about… With Blizzard sprinkled ontop.

If they really wanted everything to end with her roaming Warcraft hell forever. They would have killed her and you know it.

Or turned her into 35 anima like Arthas…

I wonder when and how they bring her back. if she’s not actually dead then blizzard will pull a garrosh or arthas on her years later lol.

I’m not a WoW lore expert by any means, but I think this was alright…

And of course she will be back. Soon-tm.

Haha so true! But at least she also need to grind those 20 souls week now. It is a real tormented and twisted punishment. So blizzard did just admit that they tormented us the whole time! We did get the same punishment as a serial killer :face_with_raised_eyebrow:

Not to be a totall Blizz shrill again but… One thing I notice is this is a ingame cutscene… And they really up their game on that part on this one.

Crap how do i explain this xD?

This is a cinematic cutscene Blizzard typically does…

But this one here is a ingame one (Sylvis judgement). Non cinematic. And for once they did it really well.

I don’t think so.

I think Blizzard wrote themselves into a corner for various reasons. On one hand you have all the Sylvanas fans who are already up in arms about losing their favorite character! Blizzard can’t kill her off, because they would anger some of their very devoted fans.
On the other hand you have all the Night Elf fans who want to see Sylvanas pay for burning Teldrassil. And Blizzard can’t just let Sylvanas get off Scot-free or else they would anger these players – who are also very devoted fans!

So they end up with just throwing her into The Maw. Because that way the Sylvanas fans can hold onto the fact that she’s still alive! She can theoretically come back!
And at the same time the Night Elf fans can hold onto the fact that for all intents and purposes she’ll be stuck in The Maw for an eternity and that she’s effectively a done deal.

So it’s an ending that aims to please, but story-wise it does nothing. There is nothing accomplished.

Take Warcraft III and Arthas. Amazing story. And the ending is really the cherry on top of an already impressive masterpiece. He puts on the helmet and his eyes change color and he says that iconic line: “Now we are one.” And then you see him sit there on the frozen throne and it’s such a powerful image and such a fitting end to Arthas’ character development. He won. The prince became the king.

Sylvanas says: “However long it takes, it shall be done.” And then she jumps into The Maw.
How does that in any way, shape or form, encapsulate her as a character?
She ends up being what, a selfless and self-sacrificing character who atones for her misdeeds?
When have any of those adjectives ever been associated with Sylvanas? It’s so out of character. Those are attributes of a kind soul, like Jaina Proudmoore. But that’s not Sylvanas. She’s motivated, egoistic, arrogant, and self-righteous.

It’s a crap story, and Blizzard have only written this ending because they deem it the outcome that upsets the fewest players. But that’s not a redeeming factor. If anything, that just makes it worse! Where’s the story integrity in writing an ending with the sole purpose of trying to not upset players?!
Garbage is what it is.

Back in the day you see… Blizzard where using our good old wc3 characters as new big bads for their expansions… Around MoP and Cataclysm… it pretty much became clear Sylvanas and Jaina where next in line for the chopping block… And the entire forums and player base protested…

After Garrosh happened too. People where just pretty much avidly againts our hero characters being turned into new big bads…

Best thing that can happen now is that we have been slumbering in emerald nightmare since legion and the dragons wake (save) us so we can aid them against the nightmare. It was just a nightmare!

I always thought – foolish idiot that I clearly am – that Blizzard were a little bit smart.

I thought that they had figured out who the permanent and ever-present characters in Warcraft should be. The character line-up that would always be present in Warcraft and who players would always recognize and who would act as the poster-images for the franchise.

Just like Super Mario has Mario and Luigi and Bowser and Princess Peach and Toad and Yoshi and so on.
Just like Sonic has Sonic and Tales and Knuckles and Doctor Eggman.
Just like Halo has Master Chief and Cortana.
And so on.

Establish the main character line-up, and then get people so invested in those characters that they will keep coming back to see what’s going to happen next.

Because that’s what smart people would do.

And they seemed to have it figured out. The characters were lined up.

Thrall.
Jaina.
Tyrande.
Anduin.
Sylvanas.

Those were the 5. Those were the 5 characters that Blizzard would feature in key artwork and merchandise and advertisement. Those were the 5 that were always in the spotlight, always in the cinematics, and always in the novels. Those were the 5 with unique models and famous voice actors.
Those were the 5 that should always exist in the game. The 5 that should ensure that no matter how much Warcraft changed, then players could come back and know that those 5 were still there.
Those 5 were the powerhouses that should draw players to the game, like Master Chief does for Halo and Link does for Zelda.

So why in God’s name do they then write one of them out of the game?!

Smart people wouldn’t do that. Smart people wouldn’t take the character who’s face you print on t-shirts and erase it from the franchise.

It makes no sense!

So they must be idiots.
