It would be an interesting twist to hear that he’s also responsible for a significant portion of our legendaries in legion, but i think we should keep that as a theory for now until proven.
Half of the Legendary powers he can craft for my specs are analogues to a Legion one.
I suspected from the getgo that the Runecarver is probably the Primus, or at the very least a being similar to him. I did notice the physical differences between the two, but just assumed it was the Maw corrupting him.
It seems like it would be too obvious, almost. But Blizzard seem to be a fan of obvious these days.
im more interested in what was that magical portal thing the jailer opened and got a cracked crystal (~damaged soul??) ? was that arthas?
Sometimes the most obvious answer is the right one. Not everything has to be a 5d puzzle.
I wouldn’t mind a twist but I think Primus being the Runecarver makes a lot of sense and it would be a great story in itself.
The only question is, how didn’t anybody figured it out yet? The player character should be quite intrigued by now.

There is endless possibilities here.
What makes me think they’re the same person is that they’re both master runecarvers. The chances there’s two of them seem slim tbh.
It would make sense, the Jailer needs Primus’ runecarving skills, grabs him and breaks him then uses him to forge the artifacts.
for all we know the primus race could have great skills in runecarving just like dwarfs have great skill in forging, goblins in making stuff say boom or gnomes in inventions(that just maybe malfuction and do something strange).
not saying that the Runecarver is not the primus but it is way to soon to say for sure, but it is a possibility but not the only one

I also have the feeling that the runecarver was/is the primus.
So i support your theory but only time will tell
I too believe them to be the same.
I think the physical difference we see in game is simply because it was cheaper and easier to just give the runecarver a venthyr model with a helm than to make a unique model for the primus chained down and one where he is free.
I’m guessing that if we were to fully free him and give back his memories he will just transform back to his original form when he helm gets removed so we wont actually see him with a venthyr helm.
