So apparently the new (revised) version is out: I lack the former version so I cannot exactly tell what changed!
But here some information, most of it regardig Night Elves:
the Kaldorei Empire was centered around Mount Hyjal.
Afterwards Mt. Hyjal was the capital of the Kaldorei until Teldrassil.(I think in older lore, Nighthaven or Astranaar was more or less their capital?)
The Dark Portal was a thing during the first invasion of the Burning Legion(re: the War of the Ancients)
Darkshore and Razormane Downs are considered barren/lifeless.
Circle of Ancients is still neutral and allows Horde Shamans entry as allies(even if they were wiped out during the WoT by the Horde.)
The Horde soldiers who witnesses Tyrandeās ascension into the Night Warrior barely made it out alive.
The Night Elves are attacking Azshara(the zone) and Zekhan thinks its strange they throw away their lives so recklessly.
Zekhan and Rexxar were only able to visit Ashenvale, Darkshore and Hyjal in secret.(which is weird since Darkshore is lifeless except for the neutral Circle of Ancients and Horde-Aligned Troll Tribe)
Now onto the other parts:
Oāros in the Exodar was a Prime-Naaru.
Every Hall in the Exodar was designed and created by a different Naaru.
The Blood Elves on Bloodmyst Isles are now officialy confirmed as members of the Horde.(I suppose this could give a reason as to why the Night Elves travelled to Quelāthalas?)
And as last, there are still hints to an ancient homeland of al Dragons!
Now as I said, I donāt have the book from before it was pulled, and from this I donāt think much has changed, except for the parts surrounding Zekāhanās ability to read(?)
I donāt have the book with me currently, so I am getting my information from someone else at the moment!
My mistake, Razormane Downs is not lifeless (I was not clear), but itās confirmed to exist in southern Durotar.
Also, Zekhan can read and write, but Rexxar can not read or write in this book (hasnāt been keeping up with his writing lessons). No mention of Elf Lords teaching the savages to write.
It is now, according to Exploring Kalimdor, in the same vein as:
Instead of around the Well of Eternity and Zin-Azshari. (In all other lore sources, Mt Hyjal was the only area never to be entered and declared āsacredā by Queen Azshara and its in the north-western part of the Empire according to chronicles)
Anyway, since Iām apparently spending my evening like this now
Zekhan: Do an old Darkspear a favor and read this to your new friend Rexxar? He should still be working on his readinā and writinā. But these words be important and will help before you go.
Hekazi was Zekhanās father, a Darkspear hunter that was saved by, and worked closely with, Rexxar and Rokhan during the Third War and the invasion of the Burning Legion.
But basicly, from so far Iāve read (40 pages in), everything in the book is the same as before, except that Zekhan can read, and Rexxar can not, and no Elf Lords are teaching them.
Only able to visit in secret, but the Shatterspear still live in Darkshore and both the Splintertree Outpost and Warsong Lumber Camp were active in the first edition of Exploring Kalimdor. Not sure about this one, though.
Why would the Kaldorei Empire be centred around an insignificant north-eastern outpost because the peasantry lived there instead of the capital located in the heartland of the empire, where the kaldorei race first came to be and spread out from?
⦠Huh? Did they elaborate on that at all, in what way?
Also it seems utterly weird the kaldorei empire is now suddenly not centered on Azsharaās palace or where the Well of Eternity is. Itās a very weird change. Who is making these decisions? That is like making the capital of the United Kingdom the city of Hull, not that I have anything against norf fc but why would the center of the kaldorei empire not be the manifest of itās power, prestige and the palace of their Queen?
I was under the impression the Shatterspear were still functioning as a tribe has this been retconned in the book?
In the end, the Alliance won the Battle for Darkshore and the tribe continues to live in Shatterspear Vale under their new chieftain, Ohseso, who continues to rebuild in hopes that the tribe can ever answer the Hordeās call. Even after the battles for Darkshore, the Shatterspears still chose harmony over bloodshed. They try to honor their bargains with both the night elves and the Horde.
At some point after the Fourth War, they were visited by Zekhan and Rexxar. They learned that what they need is simply medicine for bad days and bringing back letters to Orgrimmar, with well wishes for the Horde Council. Like the Darkspears, they put their home and people above all else.
Thanks to slands Iāve stopped listening to Blizzards attempts at āloreā. And I never gave much a toss about the books to begin with.
What the hell. Honestly I bet Blizz couldnāt even tell you the plot of a starter zone with any accuracy at this point. They could look the quests up on wowpedia or wowhead and theyād probably still get it wrong.
are still active and trying to keep their promise of peace to the night elfs while remaining allies of the Horde.
Not that far yet, just reached the chapter about Ashenvale when I went to bed!
Lemme repeat, so far, in this ānewā or ārewrittenā Exploring Kalimdor book so far the only change is that Zekhan can read and write, but now Rexxar can not! Everything else that was weird about it before, is still in it!
That spider cave in Teldrassilās starter zone? According to Rexxar that was to acquire silk (or whatever) and only the named spider moss in it was evil.
I suspect this is to try and create an implication that there are more than one Prime Naaru knocking about the cosmos. The idea of Xeāra being the only Prime Naaru certainly felt strange.
But confirmed as members of the Horde when? Are they still operating in Bloodmyst? It seems strange to declare that when the initial Belf presence was related to Kaelāthasā operations in Outland or had the Blood Elves already joined the Horde officially at that point?
It was when Zekhan was questioning his draenei guides about the (ecological) damage they did to Silverglade (now known as Bloodmyst), and the draenei remarked that the Horde and their blood elven allies are just as much to blame for the damage done to Bloodmyst as the draenei are because of what the Hordeās blood elven allies did (during the starting zone).
Zekhan was forced to shut up after that and they continued in quiet.
I donāt think this is confirming those elves (those being the Kael expedition/Matis + Co as being Horde) because it wouldnāt make sense and would throw the entire Outland story into dissonance*. But rather the draenei is just associating them with blood elves as a whole and the Horde.
I think this is whatās really happening. Iām currently making pictures of the bookās pages to upload, and Iām slowly getting to that part so Iāll reread it just incase.
I stopped reading and started making pictures of the book for uploading, Zekhan considers dryad and tauren āmerryā, but tauren moreso then dryads and apparently the tauren have a village in southern Silithus called Oceanmane village (but the Oceanmane tribe that lived there left, and only their ancient red dragon friend Andrestrasz remains, waiting for their return).
Thereās an entire chapter about THunder Bluff and Bloodhoof village too!
(currently uploading 148 images to imgur, no idea how long thatāll take!)
One of the worst things they did was saying something about Tauren religion and belief to be false, not true or w/e. Cant remember what it was about exactly
