[Spoilers] Shadowlands Alpha

There’s a really lovely quest in Southern Barrens where you go out to find Alliance Soldiers who’re used specifically for a single part. Footmen for all the random miscellaneous flesh, a commander who you take the brain and nothing else from, and (I want to recall?) the heart of some Draenei.

You take a heart from a thunder lizard or something, I thought.

But yeah, abominations are evil. Like, the very concept of them is arguably way more evil than anything that exists IRL.

that is some POG writing

They write that the brain usually gets extremely harmed or so when making an abomination, so giving it the brain of someone actually smart helps the harm not be as evident. That makes me wonder if you like, gave an abom the greatest, biggest, high archmage Gnome-master-tactician brain, would the result be an average Joe, only that it’s an Abomination?

Rottgut the DK companion is made out of, among other things, an Inquisitor demon’s heart, a Beholder’s entrails, and Cordana Felsong’s eyes.

Thaddius in Naxx was specifically stitched together from the dead bodies of women and children and they still seem to have some consciousness because you can hear them screaming as you approach the boss room, thanking you when you kill it.

You can hear them screaming all over Naxxramas until you kill it, I think.

Absolutely delightful stuff.

Maldraxxus got nothing on the Scourge-level of evil, yet…

…Abominations?

Maldraxxus is just blizzard cashing in on the skeleton war
think about it.

Maldraxxus likely started it in the grand inscrutable clockwork of the afterlife. The Scourge is just the outsourcing team. Kel’thuzad claims to have invented abominations so he probably was the first to apply that fate to mortals. Then the Forsaken and Ebon Blade just kept doing it. If it ain’t broke don’t fix it.

gotta continue the trend of “oh, that cool thing you liked? well actually it came from the shadowlands all along, isn’t that cooler now?”

In fairness all of the zones have quite gruesome afterlives- Which I feel is fine. Afterlife in Shadowlands isn’t supposed to be pretty or nice as far as I’m concerned.

If you become a Kyrian, you lose yourself.
If you go to Maldraxxus, you might get used for abomination parts.
If you go to Venthyr, either they scald you pure or you remain in sinstones?
If you go to Ardenweald chances are you’re going to be used for anima-battery.

And if you go to the Maw you go to the (supposed) turbohell.

Based Warcraft 40k WAAAAGH

Also if you fail to become a Kyrian because the Arbiter screwed up, you’re hunted down and, presumably, obliterated. You could’ve had a chill afterlife in one of the many normie realms but noooooo.

Well, the nether was basically the Warp for the longest time as it related to demons and our use of magic to the point of being regarded the hell awaiting wicked souls.

How do you mean fail?

“The Forsworn are Kyrian Aspirants that failed to complete a rite of passage.”

Ah, no. Kyrian aspirants wont be hunted down or anything when they fall. They are sent to the Temple of Loyalty to think about what they did until they are ready to go again.

so basically they are put in timeout until they are ready to be indoctrinated into the bastion cult, because everyone who arrives WANT to be an angel, and “no” is not a valid reply, go sit around for however long it will take you to change your mind, we got time, remember you are here forever.

Bastion belongs to the Forsworn!
