This is not an attempt to speculate for next content but a cry for help to centralize theories in one place haha.
Am I the only one feeling like the storyline(s?) is scattered and feels like all over the place? It feels like there’s so much content and substance for only one remaining major patch in the War Within.
We still have the Rootlands, the corrupted Titan facility we can see in the new area of the Ringing Deeps, Beledar, the Coreway, and, now with the new cutscene, some are already speculating K’aresh as the new zone for 11.2.
Personally, I don’t want K’aresh now since we’re still not dealing with Xal’atath, the Void Lords, and the Ethereals before Midnight. On the other hand, with the return to “mainland” Azeroth, I want Midnight to stay there and explore more Azeroth stuff rather than K’aresh.
The Coreway will probably not get repaired and the new Titan facility not introduced before The Last Titan expansion so maybe we can ignore them for now.
Beledar is still a very mysterious element related to the Arathi. I don’t know what to think about it. It feels very important during the war between light and void but it also is related to the Arathi who I think will mostly be influential after the Worldsoul Saga. I don’t know what do you think about this but I feel confused whether it will have an impact now, in the near future, or in the further future.
The Rootlands, home to the Harronir, roots of the first World Tree, might be a subzone and not a full zone. It can be introduced in a minor patch (11.1.7) or in a major patch (11.2) without being the main zone like the new subzone in the Ringing Deeps. Since it’s related to life and Elune, it can be introduced in Midnight as well, but it feels like we want to get far from Khaz’Algar and forget about it in the next expansion so my bet is on the Rootlands as part of The War Within.
Talking about The War Within, I’m still not seeing any war so far. The “within” part is very clear, but we’ve been fighting secondary threats during the whole expansion so far. It was cool to explore new peoples like the Kaheti, the Harronir, the Arathi, and the Eartherns of course, but the main threat feels lost in between, everything feels like an introduction. What is this war and who are the main protagonists fighting it?
The main idea that I’m trying to convey is “I don’t think they’re introducing all of this with no purpose”. Some of the things will be kept for the next expansion or the one after (or even the next saga), but my question is mainly about what will be addressed in the next patches (11.1.5, 11.1.7, 11.2, and the minor patches before 12.0).
What we already know about the 11.1.5 is that we’re going back to Hallowfall and Azj’Kahet to fight the remaining allies of Queen Ansurek and protect the Arathi alongside a new faction of theirs. The “remaining allies of Ansurek” gives side story vibes but I also think we should keep an eye on everything that happens with the Arathi. There will also be the return of the Horrific Visions and I’m wondering how they will make sense lore wise unless it’s just for gameplay and they’ll find a stupid non-lore reason.
Anyway, I want to say that next patch still doesn’t make sense in the general picture but, to be honest, nothing does so far. Any help? Any theories?
