[Spoilers] The War Within Launch Thread

Spinmongol.

I just want to pick up more on the Arathi.

The Arathi or rather the whole Hallowfall zone really hit a note for me and idk what it is but it was the whole “Light against the darkness” really stirred something for me personally, really gave me a (no pun intended) fire to stoke and build on in future for potential events, storylines, etc.

I genuinely went into this expac thinking it would just be against the Nerubians but Hallowfall’s mysteries are something that is going to be really cool when someone picks it as a campaign spot in the future and also a good spot for really delving into things. (No pun intended again :weary: )

As for Alleria; She’s still annoying her whole edgemom arc was still annoying even if she finally “found herself” towards the back end of it.

Anduin x Faerin fan service will not stop ever I definitely think they’re going to build up more on that relationship.

Speaking of Faerin I genuinely thought she was going to be a ‘generic’ kind of NPC but she was probably one of the top 3 characters for me.

  • Dagran - Genuinely thought he was going to be generic dwarf but he was very cool and just a nerd trying to help. Loved his scenes with Magni as well really wholesome dude.

  • Faerin
Really personified and truly a good character all around loved watching her scenes and listening to her “Stay awhile” interactions.

  • Skitters the Kobold
Just a top guy. Need I say more?

top three characters of this expac for me truly.

The two zones I hated though was Ringing Deeps and Azj’kahet I think they’re just awful to navigate and really just bland.

Azj’kahet is a maldraxxus turned spider zone with the Suramar storyline 2.0 - I really hate how we didn’t really get to know more about the Harronir they took a huge back seat which makes me think as someone said earlier I think in this post they was meant to be a whole side story that just got cut for sake of quickness + time.

Ringing Deeps just reminds me of a budget Zaralek. - The Skardyn were cool though. Would’ve liked more interaction with High Speaker and other groups around that.

I prefer it to Zaralek, easily.
The plants and growth there are cool and I like the kobolds.

Kobolds should’ve been the horde allied race, change my mind. Those guys are great.

I do agree with you overall though I hated Zaralek but, Ringing Deeps although reminds me of it, it is a step up and better. Just the linear map and the architecture kinda gave me Zaralek reminders.

I can very obviously parrot this, and it’s an effect that has gripped the little community of gamers I’m in, to the point where we’re giving the theme a chance in the roleplaying fashion.

The entire concept of them being a wayward expedition sent out to explore a ‘vision’ really reminds me of the story of the Brotherhood of Steel’s eastern chapter, who also originally came from a different place in flying machines and lost contact with their homeland.

I personally aim to explore the narrative around the Hallowfall Arathi and their counterparts back home as Blizzard evolves the plot in the coming years, and to bring life to the zone in the form of a collective of Lamplighters helldiving into Azj-Kahet.

Can’t wait!

Faerin’s not bad but, I think they could’ve already had that with Taelia. Really sad what they did with her.

I wish they’d look more like their dark iron counterparts, rather than just earthen with voidy-bits and chaos-dwarf horns sticking out of em, but other than that, they’re indeed cool.

I have a feeling that they are a remnant of original War Within that Danuser was creating, and when Metzen came and reworked the story, they got left behind. Their unique models with customizations, the massive tree roots around the entrance of Azj´kahet, it all sounds to be a bit too much to be just some side story. Alternatively, they might be an 11.1 or 11.2 thing that´s being set up.

If I were to go full conspiracy theory, the roots were meant to be Elun´Ahir and Harrornir were their protectors (Harrornir themselves would offer some revelations on how the process of trolls turning into elves worked, because old lore can´t be left untouched and uncorrupted). The whole zone would focus around us helping Harrornir fight nerubians (or some other enemy, although I doubt that much of the zones themselves was changed after he took over, so I suppose nerubians were meant to be part of the expansion since the start) to protect the tree, maybe even revive it and learn more about how Titans were bad. Xal´atath wasn´t meant to be part of the expansion at all, and her presence as big overarching enemy is pure Metzen. And, as a result of the World Soul Saga being a thing, and Void being the enemy, the whole plot of Harrornir stopped making sense, hence why it was mostly scrapped.

Seems more like this. If they were going to be a dropped plotline, I wouldn’t expect them to get renamed just before release. They’d just leave the original name on the cutting room floor with the rest of their content. The rename implies they’re going to do something more with them.

the haranir are probably the coolest new bit of lore to get introduced in TWW, so i’m hoping they get a big feature later on

While I do like the Haranir as a race, visually, I do hope they won’t be the “missing link” between the Dark Trolls and Night Elves, since that does not need to be explained.

And while I like the idea of Elun’Ahir, story wise, I think it will degrade the story of G’hanir as the mother tree all other World Tree’s are grown from. if Elun’Ahir was the original World-Tree, pulled out, in anger, by Aman’Thul… Then where does that leave G’hanir(which already has been reduced by the Shadowlands)? Just a random world tree stuck in the Emerald Dream and linked to Avianna for some reason? Why are the other World Tree’s not linked to powerfull Wild or Demi Gods? Why was Nordrassil so special?

Its akin to how Warlords of Draenor and Legion took away from the importance of the second Well of Eternity to create Moonwells, or why, for some reason, the Sunwell(which holds not even half the power of the second Well) is somehow, storywise, more important then the second Well.

For some reason, whenever Blizzard decides to add something, it degrades the importance of something they added before, instead of building something up?

An slight edit in;

I do hope they’ll use the Arathi to make Strom more diverse from the current “Random” Human Empire!

Gilneas has a different culture to the main Human Kingdom Archetype, especially with their Harvest Witches and Worgen. Kul Tiras does, aswell, with their Tide Mother and Sea Worship. Obviously; Lordaeron does aswell now a days, with their whole stick being Undeath. Dalaran did with their whole Magical Cosmopolitan! Alterac, who ever was left, become a rogue syndicate, so thats a path to take aswell…

Yet for some reason Strom and Stormwind were more alike each other then they weren’t with overlapping orders and stuff!

But with the Arathi Empire still being a thing, I suspect the Arathi of Hallowfall might want and/or need a base on the surface, and what better to serve as a base of operations against the greater Arathi Empire then the original seat of the Empire?
It would allows Strom to stand apart from Stormwind and the Alliance, and haver a greater importance in the Lore then it does now, as it deserves as the seat of Humanity!

He’s a good kid. I kinda wish we stopped pretending BRD was Magni doing an oopsie though. Emperor Dagran Thaurissan was still an evil bastard who employed slavery and torture and served Ragnaros.

The Alliance and Horde were justified in killing him, kidnapped Moira or not.

Speaking of Dagran Thaurissan, was it ultimately that Moira actually loved him, or was she abducted?

And if the former, how’d shw feel about him being murdered?

She was kidnapped during a diplomatic journey to SW, ended up with the DI Emperor, they got to talk after overcoming the whole kidnapping ordeal, mutual respect grew into love and sired Dragan II.

Magni couldn’t cope with the idea of her daughter being in love with their enemy and thought she was MCed… Which in retrospective, makes more sense than suddenly your daughter spitting on your lineage and clan after a kidnapping and siding with your enemy then ruling them.

Durnholde syndrome

She got really pissed and fast-forwarded Dagran’s plans to break the Dark Iron away from Ragnaros, by telling the Horde and the Alliance the Molten Core had big, fat epic loot just laying around up for the grabbing. Ragnaros was farmed into oblivion.

After that she kind of just bided her time, planning to take over Ironforge when the time was right, to prove to her father that she was capable of both rulership, resolve and subterfuge.

This feels like Dark Iron propaganda

Came from Chronicles 3. He ‘delighted’ in the power of Ragnaros but bristled at the servitude enforced, and wanted to conquer the other dwarf clans to get enough power to get of Ragnaros’ thumb for good.

So all in all, he might’ve been kind to Moira, he was still an @sshat?

Emperor Dagran Thaurissan’s last words: " A dwarfdom divided will not survive what is to come. "

I switched over to try my monk because ret is such a snoozefest when you play it for too long (cool flashy visuals but it lacks mechanical depth for me to enjoy playing it much) and crikey, the class feels super good now. I’m actually surprised by the Celestial hero talents too because they look so dull on paper but they actually enhance windwalker gameplay in quite a fun way.

I have to think about my buttons, what to press and when, be careful not to do the same thing twice, I have 0 downtime and I look cool while doing it. Plus I think they adressed the whole scaling issues ww monks always had with how fists of fury benefits it (admittedly now it hits like a wet noodle until you get good gear but whatever).

My idiot kul tiran monk is so back boys.
