Sporadic problems with timewalking queue

It often takes 10 minutes or longer to find a group as solo tank or healer and on a rare occasion it will completely fizzle resulting in no invite whatsoever after a prolonged wait period. This is at very least a strange occurrence around peak traffic hours. The queue mini window will sometimes even highlight the red sword icon [0/0/1] as if I myself have queued up for a DPS role, when I actually didn’t even choose multiple roles at once.

Players are randomly bugging out despite not teleporting out of the instance, not stalling by playing with any part of the UI or doing pretty much anything which would interfere with the process. If you mouseover the eye icon it says “player x is not ready” and it just randomly keeps cycling from one player to the next.

The third situation is when you want to continue running dungeons with your random team and the game can simply not acknowledge that five of you have queued up as an ideal party and keeps insisting that you are one DPS role short (as shown below, we gave up after 10 minutes later after two requeue attempts).

No problem is consistent but they all keep resurfacing every other week of the current timewalking marathon.

Last night I had an endless queue despite the time being 5 minutes and friends getting it no problem. It didn’t matter if I requeued or relogged - it just count down endlessly. I wondered if it was a bug and this makes me think it is.

I have longer queues on Alliance than Horde generally speaking.

The queue is obviously broken for 5 randoms of same factions which have just completed a timewalking run and are queueing from inside the dungeon. Tank and Healer are highlighted as found but it keeps showing 2/3 DPS and the queue continues forever without the third damage dealer getting recognized by the game.

Once you drop a player and queue as 4 regardless of role combination, it can still take an unexpectedly long time to find that last damage dealer but eventually the group is accommodated after a few minutes. Realistically with how overabundant DPS players are, anything past 30 seconds should raise suspicion.

Definitely worth a bug report in game

A full and detailed report usually won’t fit into a text box with limited space, but thanks for constant reminders. I keep linking them with each topic I participate in.

Not sure what you are trying to include. The only way to report this to the right people is via a bug report.

I have no issue describing the problem in the report. Granted you can’t write a novel and have to be concise.

Was one of the DPS Evoker ? same thing happened to me around 01:00 31.07.2026 as a Horde lvl20 DPS, after finishing LFG Time walking we tried multiple time to join as 5 => cancel => join as 5 => cancel => etc . after like 4-5 try to serach it stopped to register LFG

My guess is Evoker(they are all randomly bugged), or that my lvl20 is in Chromie Time and other people are not (if I want portals to the main cities like Shattrath City I need to be in chromie time…)
edit later: now when I think about it I am on “Trial” with that lvl20, so maybe that can be other reason
and have that leveling stop thingy

Idk. I’ve had people try different combinations including trials and players in Chromie time. Sometimes everything is fine but other time isn’t. Queue malfunction is just more noticeable with six back to back weeks of timewalking.

I’ve seen some anecdotal evidence of XP locked characters purposefully being shoved into what is referred to as a “low priority queue”, even when signing up as tank or healer but then again over the past the queues have statistically been kind to me and I am generally used to getting an invite in under a minute after trying it out myself on a few occasions.

For those curious; manually grouping with someone XP locked will only spread the XP lock to those who have willingly joined your group before accepting the queue, but if you decide to queue for more dungeons the randoms who you have just cleared the dungeon with, they will not have to suffer the debuff at all - they are unaffected. The 2/3 DPS bug as a party of 5 occurs with me being max level, low level, Chromie Time and/or XP locked, but most importantly when I’m not queueing DPS myself. I am not convinced that I am a factor or that my account in particular is bugged.

It’s not game breaking in any way for tank or healer and waiting a few minutes longer won’t kill me, but it is a shame for solo DPS queue who on average often wait longer than it takes to clear one full timewalking dungeon. You kill the last boss, someone from the group queues you and usually everyone happily accepts to continue playing together, but instead of an instant pop-up the queue bugs out at 2/3 DPS and the group momentarily disbands out of frustration.

Back to waiting 10 more minutes, repeated four more times until you complete your weekly quest.

The real issue could possibly have something to do with TW dungeons being completed in half of the time (or faster) that it takes for queue lockout to naturally reset itself (~15min), or the game may be intentionally triggering some kind of a safeguard, considering the 10 instances per hour cap (which shouldn’t even be a thing when it comes to random queue).
