I am curious in general about what stance people take on boost selling/buying in m+ and raiding. In every other game I have played the general opinion is that boosting is a bad thing and damages the health of the game but in wow it feels that the majority of people either support it or dont think there is anything wrong with it.
Personally I feel like it damages the health of the game because you can never be certain when forming a group if the player with a full +15 clear of every m+ dungeon actually knows how to play or bought it until they ruin your run and the experience for 4 other players.
I have only asked this in some class discords and the general opionion there is that boost selling is completely okay but I also realise alot of people there are either selling boosts themselves or play exclusively in guild groups and never have to deal with random boosted players ruining their runs. Was curious to see if the opinion here is any different with a different variety of players.
A whole lot of boost buyers are actually the boosters themselves, on alts. If you encounter them in pugs (emphasis on the if), you wouldnât know they ever got boosted. A whole lot of other buyers are average people who have gold, but less time to play, or simply prefer a less stressful, safer environment than pugs, without the burden of building a team. Most of the time, theyâre good players anyway. When you meet them in pugs, you wouldnât know they got boosted.
Pretty much the only kind of boostee you donât want to meet are those who are bad. Look at the amount of 15+s they did, and how many they have untimed. If theyâre at 8/8 timed and no untimed, thatâs a good sign they canât do it on their own. If they have 50+ timed 15s, a couple of untimeds here and there, who cares if they got boosted through some of them?
In short, the vast majority of buyers you either wonât encounter, or you wonât notice.
The major problem I have with boosting is the spam in Trade (though, solved by SR13-AntiSpam for me), and the advertisements on the LFD tool. The latter is against the rules, but sadly canât filter LFD groups by title via addons, so no easy solution for that yet.
âDonât hate the player, hate the gameâ
If people feel they need/want to boost to progress then the problem is with the game inciting and promoting that mentality and gameplay.
I donât blame anyone buying boosts or selling boost.
I blame Blizzard for taking the game in a direction where so many view boosting as progression.
I play group content nearly exclusively with my guildies, I only pug trivial content with my alts.
I have no issues with boosting as long as itâs not advertised spamming.
Boosting is allowed to thrive for one main reason, to me⌠the wrong people playing a game they failed to fully understand before they started playing it.
Until the kind of player that has come to WoW as âjust another gameâ and has failed to find any sign of a âquick gaming fixâ stops looking for ways to GET that fix, the market for boosts will exist.
One easy way to limit the appeal of boosting is to foster a game community that makes WoW appeal to those who wholeheartedly embrace the idea of what an MMO-RPG is; a game that requires you to invest time & effort to get any sense of satisfaction/achievement from it⌠where savouring what you do is encouragedâŚ
They should not be allowed to spam my eyes.
They should have a boost channel to promote their boosts and not spam + destroy tradechat and blizzard should make a boost tab on the LFG so people can directly join them.
They are annoying, it has to stop SOMEWHERE but blizzard makes money so âits okâ leave it there.
Agreed but I dont know if it is possible in this day and age, just look at classic where you are heavily incetiviced to put in massive amounts of time on your character and do raids because that is where the real good stuff is, its a slow grind. Yet classic also turned into a boosting clownfiesta. Gamers today do not want a challange or feel any sort of achievement from improving. They just want the instant gratification of seeing their numbers go up and then lose interest in the game in only a matter of a few months.
Thats becouse majority what doesnt like boosting like good over 50%+ playerbase has alredy quit so onlyone what actualy stayed playing are boosters or players what buy boosts.
True but there is also the case of when classic was announced and people instantly started saying things like âfinaly I can go back to the times when wow was actually good and character progression and loot mattered blablablaâ and then everyone started spamming WTB BOOST SCARLET MONESTERY instantly and just going to every lenght to play the game as little as possible.
Nobady is spaming wtb boost on classic nobady. Its literaly few players trying to sell boost and most of time they dont even find anyone who will buy it becouse players have no gold. Also there is difference in buying boost for gold you farmed and buying boost for gold you bough for real money. Classic in EU and USA do not have tokens.
Honestly the number of people you see with stuff they donât deserve, if the evidence is there of it being a boost I donât see why they donât just whip out the D/Q / ban hammer and go ham really, gold or irl cash its a slim difference in the eyes of the people who want boosting gone.
In the current day and age with a world wide pandemic and people losing jobs left and right not many can afford to buy 1 token let alone lots of them .
Yes they do i seen a lot of mages spamming leveling services on the big servers like Pyrewood Ali
Also seen guilds selling BWL and Naxx runs
Alredy told you that on classic you have to farm gold by playing game to get boost. Which reduce demand as most people do not have gold to buy those boosts. Reason why boostig is so big on retail is becouse players can buy gold for realm money.
Yes it is. You dont even play classic so please dont post any opnions on this matter.
