Starborne Gathering: Event for Nightborne & Night Elf Arcanists 🧙‍♀️

The Fledgling Arcanist

Being from no great house, Lumullus is known as an adept of Estulan. Same as others night elves, he choose to break with tradition during the cataclysm and learn the arcane art from the highborne Estulan. During his studies he received the moniker of the Fledgling Arcanist, for his potential seemed vast. Rumours of his austere philosophies appear odd for a mage. Choosing to take perceived lessons of the sundering to heart, he actively avoids using any magic if at all possible.

Rumours of his recent escapades

It is said that Lumullus is currently in search of a possible location of a titan disc, hoping that he may obtain knowledge that can dispel rumours and visions of troubling forebodings that he took knowledge of.

House Nightbolt during the Empire

Ten thousand years ago, Nightbolt lineage flourished. Most prominently known for weaving arcane and stars into alignment, they were common visitors to Zin-Azshari, Vash’jir, Shandaral and Nar’thalas, yet they fell into silence as the War of the Ancients began raging. To this day, the only known surviviors of the lineage were the few who remained in Suramar and maintained favor of the Grand Magistrix.

Prevailing in Suramar

Walled off from the sundering world and the stars above, the remaining Nightbolts focused on re-establishing their practise in Suramar. Arcturiel inherited rulership of House Nightbolt at a young age, but as years went by, he earnt a station in Nighthold for his extensive research of astromancy and complex arcane spells.

The accursed star

As the Insurrection of Suramar took place, threads of fate brought the old rumors of Arcturiel back to the surface. Out of thousand voices, each is colored with tales of once bright star having fallen from grace and ceaseless pursuit to widen his knowledge in best interests of Suramar.

House Manaleaf over the ages

Moridunum is the Lord and Patriarch of House Manaleaf. House Manaleaf is an ancient house, dating back to the pre-Sundering Empire. Rumours have it House Manaleaf, under leadership of Moridunum, was already a well established noble house before Queen Azshara ascendanded to the Throne, earning their renown due to their combination of masterfully grafting beautiful clothing for the noble’s of the Kaldorei Empire and infusing them with the most coveted enchants.

They also earned a reputation of proud and powerfull Battle-Magi, often joining the fray of Wars; from the War against the Troll Empires aswell as fighting on the Forefront during the War of the Ancients, first on the side of the Queen, then on the side of the Resistance.

Backstory

House Silversong is one of the older names within Suramar. The Silversongs were at one time a rather large and somewhat well-known family during the times of the Empire, known for their steadfast loyalty and devotion to serving the Queen and Empire at large in a number of roles, from research and exploration to fighting on the frontlines against any enemies, whether they be from the outside or within. Yet the Sundering put an end to most of this. Most of the Silversong’s were lost to the Legion or the cold and unrelenting seas during the war of the Ancients.

Alliana however was spared the same fate purely by chance. As one of the Moonguard Alliana was tasked, alongside others, to defend Suramar to the last soldier. As she and her kin in arms held the line, the barrier that would soon become the Shal’dorei’s prison cut her off from what little remained of her family. Believing herself to be the sole survivor of her family she refused to allow her bloodline to end there in the ruins of the Empire.

While the Silversong name never returned to the status it once held, under Alliana’s guidance House Silversong endures, largely through political scheming and putting her talents as a skilled warrior and spellblade to use. Over many centuries of working for other families to secure her place in higher society, her grander plan finally reached fruition. Working alongside many of the “lowborne” in the employ of other families led to her gathering a somewhat decent network of spies. Among the families she has connections to, there is little she does not hear about.

This role as a sort of spymaster was put to the test during the Rebellion; whereas some of the families she had connections to aligned with the Grand Magistrix, Allianna did not. And thus began a rather longwinded campaign of her subtly sabotaging their efforts to gain the attention of the Grand Magistrix. Allianna was among the first of those to join up with the rebellion and put her many martial skills to work in defence of her home and her people.

In the aftermath of the rebellion, Allianna’s network of spies and agents grew beyond the border of Suramar. She was rewarded with the title of Magistrix, and many of the assets and wealth owned by families she was helped defend were now hers to claim.

Hooks

She was a rather vocal opponent to the Horde’s attack on Teldrassil, rumours even suggested she aided the Kaldorei where possible, but none of those rumours were ever found to have proof. Perhaps you agreed with her? Perhaps you did not and tried to besmirch her?

These days she is rare sight in Suramar, taking the brief reprieve from war and conflict to travel the world at a close friend’s suggestion. Perhaps you may have crossed paths with her?

She is the more militant sort and occasionally acts as a mentor to recruits in the Duskwatch, particularly in abjuration magics.

She is still in contact with what remains of the Moon Guard and does not hesitate to aid them when needed.

I wanted to thank everyone for coming.

Did not expect such a huge attendance (and this reinforced in me the idea that it was a good thing to keep it to nightborne and night elven magi only) but I am sure we made up for that.

It has been amazing to see people’s inventions and marvelous gifts, or the curiosity and interactions that played during Taroth’s will.

So yeah… Thank you all for coming, and thanks a thousand times to Acrona for doing this event with me. She has been a stellar DM, and has been really pleasant to see her at work. She’s positive, smart, and very proactive.

Here are three pictures done by me. Perhaps someone will bring forth better screenshots /COUGHS.

Thank you everyone also on my behalf! While we had a bit of a slow start with the gifts exchange, it was also wonderful seeing people coming up with such thought-out items. I think we picked up the momentum with Taroth’s memorial, much of which was written by Remethion who also NPC’ed the Highborne’s projection at the end.

Hopefully we have more opportunities to come together again! I’d be more than happy to collaborate with Remethion on crossfaction events in the future; he’s kind and dedicated to ensure everyone has a good time, committed to making the events immersive both via narration and visuals. Thank you for having the lion’s share of preparing for this event when I was juggling too many things at once.

To make up for it, here’s my write-up about the event!

The haunting quiet of Tel’anor, an ancient ritual site in Suramar, was broken by a gathering summoned by Remethion Lastaril and Serafier Winterflow. Nightborne and Night Elf pactitioners of the arcane came together with the hope of establishing friendly contact, and to pave the way for future collaboration.

The hosts opened the event with both delivering a speech, emphasizing the importance of collaborative efforts in forging a better future and breaking away from antiquated traditions.

Remethion was prepared to demonstrate that the gathering consisted of more than the silver tongue, “Words alone do not suffice, however. I propose we each share a gift to a future friend. A gesture of kinship, to further establish a bond. May they embody a tangible expression of our willingness to share our history, and our personal stories with one another.”

Subsequently, Remethion presented Serafier with a magical orb; the core of a nightborne construct.

Serafier responded to the courtesy by presenting the Nightborne with an ancient memory crystal containing a visual recollection of fashion designs by a once esteemed tailor from Zin-Azshari.

Following that, the participants were assigned partners to present themselves before the audience and exchange their respective gifts.

The boons ranged from exquisite star charts to glowing manaplants.

After the exchange, drinks and words flowed when the attendees had a moment to mingle freely around the bar.

The bartender’s manners were as sparkling as the glasses he served left and right.

The gathering served also another purpose; to announce the final will of Highborne Taroth Shadewell who had recently passed away.

Serafier shared words of Taroth’s life, "I remember the joy when he discovered that his family survived the Sundering and prospered in Suramar, and the devastation in his eyes when, after trying to reach them out, he discovered of their tragic demise in the nightfallen rebellion.

Tonight, we honour his memory: just as he would have wanted, nightborne and highborne stand united, walking together on the arcane path that defines so many of us."

The distribution of Taroth’s most precious artifact pieces was to be carried out, with the selection of new owners being determined by a magical orb created by the Highborne himself.

The orb chose Silyse Rimestar, Calthelis Whitedawn, Tessaemay Manapearl, and Aurellys Wintercrest. They were instructed to assemble the four fragments of the artifact, to empower their unique and powerful enchantments. The pieces snapped together, forming the shape of a levitating pyramid.

The runes on each triangular plane flared up with a dazzling brilliance. The light condensed into a single point at the pyramid’s apex, then exploded outward in a cascade of shimmering sparks. In the midst of the spectacle, a figure began to materialize.

It was a projection of Taroth Shadewell, to bid his own farewell.

"Noble children of the stars. If you are hearing my voice tonight, then I could not see this day with my own eyes.

For centuries, I have walked the paths of this world, longer than some kingdoms have stood. Yet even now, as my time ends, I find that it is not enough. The desire to live, the desire for more burns as brightly as ever.

You see… It is just that… Life. It is so beautiful. There is so much that I will miss. The blooming of Bel’Ameth, the resurgence of the kaldorei, and the simple, everyday moments that fill my existence with wonder.

What kind of flowers will grow beneath Amirdrassil? What will they smell like, what will it be like to hear children run across those new hills, perhaps chasing a phasing fey drake?

I longed to witness the mages returning home among their kin, to marvel alongside you all at the ever-unfolding mysteries of magic. But I know. I will not draw breath long enough to see these small wonders…

I no longer have the strength to fight this disease.

I like to think my demise has been serene. Calm. Like a leaf caught in a breeze, my last breath shall soon be claimed by the wind."

"My life was far from perfect. I have stumbled, erred, and borne the weight of many regrets. Yet, one regret haunts me above all others. My greatest act of cowardice.
I never found the courage to journey to Tel’anor to honor my fallen family.

The weight of their loss, the memories, the grief, it was too great for my weary soul to bear.

They were taken as they rebelled against Elisande’s despotism. They withered away, forgotten by people and society at large.

So, I do it now, before you all.

Let me remember my loved ones with you. Though I can no longer think, though I am no longer here, I wish to remember them, still.

Through your eyes, may this gesture endure. Quel’vala thonos."

The ceremony concluded, Serafier entrusted Taroth’s ash urn to Zeruda who was eager to find and honor the graves of his family. In addition, Zeruda hoped for assistance in locating her long-lost sister, who was said to be among the Shen’dralar Highborne.

The gathering’s significance, the importance of the connections made, and the authenticity of the attendees’ intentions would be better understood over time.
