Legion did this perfect tbh , making quests relevant to some of the old areas in the world. Even they have huge potential with timewalking mechanics and seems like they are starting to implement that in the game talking about how they are recycling the dungeons that might happen to another stuff in the future.
Tbh i completely don’t care about player housing and opposite of what people think i rather get a new system / dungeon / raid instead of that. Player housing means just another garrison to me where i can afk inside nothing else. Also you can see my example in ffxiv . All people do is log in and afk there , i don’t see any value this adds to the game.
the elemental invasions spread across the old world could be a daily quest that incorporates many old zones into this, also making them a good catchup-xp for alts and catchup-gear-rep for maxlvls. how to motivate people to do it? give ALOT OF XP and ALOT OF REP/GOLD/Normal raid item.
What about, some zones favour specific professions.
Craft this amount of gear and the regents can you find in theses zones and you will get that etc etc.
Certain zones become more interesting than others every week. Both pvp and pve wise.
Zones where you can get missions and group with others, for up to 5 ppl and fight against other groups of 5. Where you get negative honor for killing solo people. The rewards will come from beating other groups. By doing so we dont have to stand in line for up to 15-20 minutes. The world pvp would be living and dynamic.
Id call this group a Raiding party
There is so much blizzard could do to the huge world wow has become.
“But the last time they did a world revamp there was so much backlash!” i hear people cry, well, that’s in large part because many areas were ruined to prop up Deathwing as a threat (Or the way two successive Horde invasions wrecked Night elf land, Cataclysm NPCs were still in Ashenvale until BfA), yes people wanted updates, but they didn’t want goblin theme parks, a big volcano in the middle of a zone, or other such disfiguring changes, change the world, but (For a change) for the better.
Maybe have invasion-like events, every day one or two places in the world have an outbreak of zone-appropriate mobs (Quillboars in the barrens, bandits in Tanaris, that sort of thing), with an emissary quest to deal with them, it’s some much-needed outdoors content, and it puts the “World” back in “World of Warcraft”
And, you know, slowly fix some things out in the world, Cataclysm is 13 years ago (More in story-time), at least some reconstruction efforts must have been made by now.
Kinda agree.
Legion Orderhalls being abandoned makes no sense, even after we stopped the legion. These places are beautiful and offer us flavorful class quests, but they just squandered all those assets.
Quests like the Human Herritage questline which had a strong connection to Westfall was nice. Not everything has to be ‘end of the world’ threat, which DF is once again shaping up to be.
Making questlines that return to older expansions or zones will breathe life back into them, if only briefly.
this could be the way of revamping the old world , they should spend the resources for next expansion to rebuild the old world. i’d buy even a plain graphic update tbh.
yes. orderhalls should be a permanent thing with few quests being added every now and then
That’s why they should create new updated versions of the zones, which should be as timeless as possible with evergreen content in them. But still keep the old ones in the game through the bronze dragonflight. Perhaps a more elegant solution than what they’re doing now (putting the same NPC in every zone that has different versions).
That way no old version is really lost, but we still get the feeling of an evolving world that’s actually alive rather than stagnant.
I think it could work, if done right. The world needs to be updated again to show how the world has progressed after the Cataclysm.
There’s still too many wrecks and scenes of destruction just left for what could be decades now.
The “core” vanilla zones and many of those touched by the Cataclysm need a modern overhaul.
Phasing doesn’t need to be extensive. There should be only two “mandatory” ones at best - one for those leveling and one for those near or at max level when they are doing the current content.
If people want to see the older times of a zone, maybe have a resident bronze dragon to let them go back.
People shouldn’t be gimped by phases but they should be able to travel freely to reminisce. If anything, you could even have an item that lets you hunt/wpvp people through the timeline phases!
Good point. I really love when some quest using existing zone from previous expansions. It creates a connection between different storylines and tie things together in lore. Hope it will be more often in the future.
“Make Azeroth great again”. Me for 2024 election kekw
Jokes aside i’d love to see a questing hub which send us around the world, maybe something like Lost Ark dailys
