State and Disappointment of Balance Druids in SoD

Hey guys,

I got some professional experience in game testing and feedback but none in game design.

So can someone with more experience try to explain why Balance druids are always done so dirty and under represented? This has been a staple ever since vanilla to be honest, they have never been OP (or not for more than half a patch at least) in their entire history. There have been some ways to cheese 5 boomies in wotlk/cata for example but we’re back to classic now. An expansion(?) that has one of the worst experiences for casters seeing how most melee classes do more damage, scale better with items/levels, got better skill progression while leveling, have more representation as a whole, they are able to hit higher level mobs, whereas casters hitting a 5+ higher level mobs is almost impossible at least in my experience.

Currently in SoD, I see balance druids getting runes that should have been just simple adjustments to their abilities and mainly (almost only) passive runes. All of the balance druids I’ve talked to agree that Gale Winds is a joke. It’s something that should’ve been a fix rather than a rune. Most balance druids either left Sod, went Feral or rerolled completely. Is there any reason we didn’t get an adequate AoE like Typhoon or Starfall?

Other range/caster classes got so many runes and could do some interesting builds. Balance druids are stuck with one, two at best runes per slot (head, chest, waist, legs, feet, wrist, hands) and 5 of those are only passives…

Weren’t we supposed to get at least remove curse in moonkin form? I believe I read that somewhere…

If any of those questions or concerns have been addressed elsewhere, I would love to someone to point me to the right direction. First time on the forums. Have never been so frustrated with the game before. But I still have hope and I do want to play something until Cata comes out.
