First of all, I’ll say a couple things that will clarify why I wrote this post:
Through the life, all the friends and close people bullied me for who I am. I suffered a lot.
I’ve been playing WoW for many years starting from Vanilla. I can’t put into words how much I love this game. WoW always been helping me in rough times. I wish all the best to the game and hope this story never ends.
Now let’s move to the main topic of the post. As you may have noticed, Blizzard has recently begun to move towards improving the representation of gender/sexual minorities in WoW.
I’m glad Blizzard understands importance of this issue and makes first steps in this direction, but what has been done at the moment is still not enough.
WoW is still behind most of the modern games in terms of tolerance and representation of minorities.
So I’ve compiled a list of what can be done to improve this situation:
One of the MMORPG’ key features is the opportunity to create a unique character and associate yourself with it. So, if WoW is a MMORPG why I can’t be the one who I really am? As a non-binary person, I’m offended by the lack of opportunity to create a such character that I could assosiate with myself. This game forces me to choose one of two genders. An easy fix would be choosing body type but not sex. Look at the New World, there is no choice of sexes and that’s right!
I wish the game had the opportunity to choose custom gender and pronouns. It’s a small detail, but very pleasing to all the non-binany persons.
More story-wise important characters should represent gender and sexual minorities. For example, Illidan can be easily made transgender and this wouldn’t make the game worse. Actually, it will show the growth of the character as a person.
I hate the social structure of the orcs. Patriarchy reigns there, so women don’t have the right to vote, and their will is suppressed. It’s disgusting and terrible. No, it’s TERRIBLE
WoW has always been the leading MMORPG on the market and set trends of the entire genre. And so it should be again. Blizzard must surpass other games in matters of minority representation and tolerance.
I’ll be really, really happy if you support my post. I wish Blizzard will pay attention to it and make the game better.
I’m also going to create a petition to Blizzard soon, with the same requirements. I think it will help to attract more attention to these really important issues.
No no no and re-no. I’m sorry you suffered because of wicked people in your life, I really do, especially coming from close one, it can really cause pain and suffering, and I am genuinely saddened that you have/had to suffer because of your beliefs.
But all this won’t help you. All this woke movement has already gone too far, the world is not at the hands of minorites. Yes we should all accept other people choices as long as it doesn’t affect others, but it doesn’t have to be intrusive in every aspect of our lifes. You come on earth with a sexual identity and maybe you want to change that later in your life, it doesn’t change the fact you were born male or female. WoW is just the same. If you want to evolve into something else afterwards that’s all yours. Like in WoW. Nothing stops you from saying to your friends that you’re a “custom gender” (putting quotes I don’t know much about all this movement) like a custom night elf or panda or w/e

Now, that’s not because I support or think that this culture is correct. But it does represent a culture and way of life, whether it’s of the now, or whether it’s of the past, whether it’s completely fictional… .that is the way Orcs live.
I think WoW would become a very boring game if it just drops any and all cultures in the game for a modern western movement. Having a diversity of cultures in WoW can be used to educate people of differences.
Stop this ‘offended’ nonsense.

You’re playing a person from Azeroth. A made up, non-existent person. Of a race that doesn’t exist in our world (hell; even Warcraft Humans don’t exist in our world).
Anduin would make more sense really. We’ve all seen her transition from a young boy to a fabulous young lady over the years, what remains is merely for all the other NPCs to acknowledge it and letting her shine as the queen she is.

Bro, you could be the worst type of guy orcs would take you, grow discipline on you and you would be a bro too. Alliance would not take you… which is why horde attacks himself and alliance gets attacked by everyone. Horde welcome even the most controversial people.

Thing is… If minorities get to have a say over how things are done… You’re going to have THE MAJORITY getting upset eventually. That’s when revolutions begin. That’s when civil wars start.
So let’s not go there.
And that’s coming from a person who could be categorized into at least 2 minorities (probably more). But to hell with that. I am who I am. And I won’t be put into neat little boxes.
Trolling? How is pointing out a blatant transgender character trolling? It seems much more like trolling wanting to change a character that never showed any sign of transitioning, out of the blue. You didn’t even try to reason why Illidan makes sense, so it seems more like you just picked a famous character for impact and shock value. If anything you should be celebrating Anduin.
Nobody is going to start a revolution or have a civil war because some people deny the solid fact that you’re A human being and are either male or female, apart from in really rare circumstances for those born with both.
