Static IP causing disconnects

Hello all,
over the course of the last few days, I’ve experienced some latency issues and very non stable MS (both home and world) Occasionally it would go up to 500-600’s than very slowly and gradually go down back to the normal 50-70’s, that would happen few times a day, making it very difficult to play.

So, i called my ISP, they ran tests on everything and everything was working as intended. Also, in my own speed tests i had perfectly normal MS and down/up speeds. so it had to be something with my connection to the servers.
i tried looking up some online solutions and ran across Static IP. so I configured it my self following this guide (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5iRp1Nug0PU) and also opened the DMZ on my router settings.

the ping was fixed completely and back to stability again, however I’m now facing another problem - continuous disconnections from the game servers, every 30-60 minutes or so, without ping rising or anything like that.
the same thing happens to me on Call of Duty Modern Warfare servers.

internet experts - i would genuinely appreciate your help here as I’ve got nowhere else to go and can’t play my favorite games without internet issues.
thanks in advance.

I have a static IPv4 internet address. I resubbed about three weeks ago. Had problems with latency and disconnects. One day they just disappeared. No changes on my side. Trigger-happy firewall on Blizzard’s side?

Nah, there is no way for a firewall to tell if an IP is static or dynamic.

I assuming you set static IP for your internal network as for actual public IP address you would have needed to use the settings you got from your ISP and set them to the router.

Opening DMZ in home router basically just means all traffic (unless directed to other devices in the LAN) is redirected to that specific host. It makes your computer more vulnerable (since anyone from Internet could try to access it) and I would strongly recommend that you do not use it unless you are absolute sure and know what you are doing.

As for the problem of disconenction: if they happen at regular intervals problem is likely misconfigured settings on your router, or conflicting settings on the computer and the router. I would reset the settings to what they were and figure out the solution to the original problem which would not involve making your computer more vulnerable.
