I hear alot of people saying mage tower has never been harder, except the OG one at release, but then you could just wait untill later in the season and roflstomp it.
Some guy posted a picture blizzard uploaded to twitter stating that the mage tower in legion had 15.2M attempts, and 135K successes. Thats about 0,9% success rate.
I did the guardian one on about 40-50 attempts, and i loved it. I took notes, viewed old school playthroughs, stared at my talent tree for ages etc. (Do you think there will be more challenges per spec?)
Can anyone confirm if this is harder/easier than the previous ones? Im struggling to believe its the hardest, although ill admit this was difficult. Almost had a panic attack when kruul had >10k hp, was close to a heart attack when i killed him. Anyone have any macro statistics on mage tower? Would be fun to see.

Harder then Legion . I did 36 specs back then was great fun and so rewarding. Now it is unrewarding and a slog.
You could use Tier and 2 x Legendaries and artifact in Legion just the normal gear you could wear at the time. Now nothing is allowed just gem stack tbh very boring.
I feel like Guardian specifically is easier? In Legion I had like around 200 tries on it. Yesterday I did it with like 20-30 tries, and healing weapon+trinkets equipped.
I feel like it varies with challenges.
The Tank challenge i did on my druid as well. got it at around roughly the same as you 40-50 attempts.
The Twins challenge i did as boomkin, and got that at aroun 60-70 attempts.
The Sigryn fight i got at around 40-50 attempts as demo lock.
I’m still currently hardstuck on the Havoc DH fight with Xylem. Roughly 120 pulls in so far. This one is by far the hardest i have done, due to the DPS check in p2 being so tight. I’m not sure whether the p2 bosses HP is a little overtuned or if i’m just missing the right damage trinkets.
Don’t have any data to compare the two challenges unfortunately, but it definitely feels like some challenges are way harder than others, and I don’t just mean from a subjective standpoint.
Strange i thought Legion was easier as i mixed the feral and boomkin legies into my gear. 20-30 in legion and lost count in SL and DF about 300ish.
To be entirely frank, I’m just not a very good player! I had similar numbers with several specs. Don’t even get me started on doing the afflock one without Sacrolash…

Yeah lets not speak of that one like ever as it make’s me tremble and shiver with flashbacks.
Imo it is very diffcult to judge when it was at it’s hardest, because it is a bit subjective. People have different strong points and weak points and the classes and mechanics have changed since then. Does it really matter anyways? If you want to try it again, do so, and figure out what you found the most challenging for you.
I’ve heard alot of people say it feels easier for some specs, particularly the tanking one.
I very quickly popped in on my Prot Paladin to see and it certainly felt alot more doable than the last time I tried.
I can’t speak for other challenges though.
Tried on my dh, the mage boss just instacasts some aoe on me one shots me… no way to interrupt, no reason why he casts it, go figure. How you supposed to learn anything unless you literally watch some detailed guides first? No skill required, just know how and thats stupid af.

Havoc DH is for me really hard. Most of the time he 1 shot me. Ofc i’m using pvp gear and trinkets so this is why i cannot beat him at all, but in the same time, with same gear i beat tower as Vengeance DH in less than 30 pulls. Because i want only transmog, im done with it.

When you compare it to shadowlands DF version is definitely easier because of talent trees and more options to play with 
On fdk it’s just impossible to pass
One tip. Use df greens with Leech on it. It’s incredibly strong in mage tower.
If that’s true; that’s insane. That is not okay.

I completed mage tower as a mage, and I needed a full night just trial and error over and over
DF versions are mostly easier than SL versions. They’re still fixed scaling though so you can’t overgear / undergear them like people did in Legion.
Did the Monk one, was pretty easy (15-20 attempts)
In 9.2.5 Balance Druid one was pretty hard
Will do that later this year tho, as Balance and Guardian are completely unplayable atm…
I don’t think you are. I got the book on 2nd MT reset in SL, and I have around 20-22/36 specs done with the current version, and for me, havoc one (despite maining DH since 2016) was by far the hardest. And not the xylem part, the P2 dps check part, same as you.
To bring it in line with others, it should get a 15-20% hp buff IMO.
