Stealing the Time-Lost Proto-Drake

So far I am really enjoying Wrath and, as somewhat of a mount-enthusiast, I find myself more and more often within the Storm Peaks, hunting for the ever-elusive TLPD.
While camping and hopping between spawn points, I’ve seen a surprising amount of low-level players, even as low as 72-ish.
Considering that I’m playing a class with taunt and the fact that it would (at the very least) take those players considerably longer to kill the rare… would it be a bannable offense if I was to taunt or draw aggro from the rare to reset it so that I (or someone else) could have the chance to tag and kill it for the loot instead?

Intuitively, it definitely feels as if the answer is (as it should be) a resounding “YES!”, but I’d like to have something more solid.

Prob not bannable but this is def a troll post or you’re a massive cnt like the pple who kill the person who tagged x rare just so they can get it.

Neither of those, just an honest question that I’d like an answer for.

Doubt it’s a bannable offense, it would however probably make you the kind of major a-hole that nobody wants to be friends with

Not bannable. Do it if you can and take what’s yours, king. Friends and foes will perish, and past deeds will be forgotten. Only pixels remain for evermore

The game wont let you cast banish, taunt, death grip etc on mobs that are tagged.

How would this even work? The player could just following you and toss pebbles at the thing while you’re the one getting hit and keeping it in combat.

They’d still have the tag.

Yes, it is a bannable offense. Atleast in theory. If they enforce it or not is another matter.

It is disruptive behaviour and griefing. Ppl saying it is not bannable just havent read the rules.

Yes it does. Paladins do it around farming areas to screw with ppl.

Im pretty sure you can insert any class

Depends if they make a ticket and the type of Support person that answers that ticket.

Does Time-lost proto-drake or any other rare at all exist yet in northrend? I have never seen even one rare. And how does it work with rares and layers anyway?

They spawn in all layers and they are heavily contested indeed.

Yes, but Paladins have 2 taunts and one of them is “ae”. I my self have only experienced paladins doing this.

I have killed 2. But the population is much higher on my server this time around than it was in vanilla wrath so they are more or less always dead.

And this is why it must be botted.

Basically, if you do the honest old fashioned game, you glare at your screen patiently for hours on end, then end up blinking (or pouring a glass of water) right when it spawns, someone else randomly pops up and tags it…
… who did “deserve” the rare?

Been there, done that both ways (with slow spawning quest mobs, and most usually as a victim with mining nodes), it’s pretty annoying but you’ll get exploited, so …

Rares and public contest resources are ultimately a bad idea. In my opinion.
Difficult encounter is a much nicer option and the result is an achievement, not a random I’ve been lucky thing.
Until then, takers are the winners, and whoever says you should be nice, just wants to increase their chances of being a taker. Don’t be a loser, take it.

In a pvp server, you do what’s nec to get the mount, and no thats not a bannable offense.

They die as they spawn.
I’ve seen so many clips of Time lost proto- drakes dying before they even register they’re getting attacked lol.

As far as I can tell, we are operating on original TLPD spawn timing, so anywhere from 6 to 20 hours. Have seen Vyragosa 2 times and Skoll 1 time.

whats up guys
