So far I am really enjoying Wrath and, as somewhat of a mount-enthusiast, I find myself more and more often within the Storm Peaks, hunting for the ever-elusive TLPD.
While camping and hopping between spawn points, I’ve seen a surprising amount of low-level players, even as low as 72-ish.
Considering that I’m playing a class with taunt and the fact that it would (at the very least) take those players considerably longer to kill the rare… would it be a bannable offense if I was to taunt or draw aggro from the rare to reset it so that I (or someone else) could have the chance to tag and kill it for the loot instead?
Intuitively, it definitely feels as if the answer is (as it should be) a resounding “YES!”, but I’d like to have something more solid.
Not bannable. Do it if you can and take what’s yours, king. Friends and foes will perish, and past deeds will be forgotten. Only pixels remain for evermore
Does Time-lost proto-drake or any other rare at all exist yet in northrend? I have never seen even one rare. And how does it work with rares and layers anyway?
Basically, if you do the honest old fashioned game, you glare at your screen patiently for hours on end, then end up blinking (or pouring a glass of water) right when it spawns, someone else randomly pops up and tags it…
… who did “deserve” the rare?
Been there, done that both ways (with slow spawning quest mobs, and most usually as a victim with mining nodes), it’s pretty annoying but you’ll get exploited, so …
Rares and public contest resources are ultimately a bad idea. In my opinion.
Difficult encounter is a much nicer option and the result is an achievement, not a random I’ve been lucky thing.
Until then, takers are the winners, and whoever says you should be nice, just wants to increase their chances of being a taker. Don’t be a loser, take it.
