Im crossing my fingers so hard, for some updates on San’Layn lore and their whereabouts. Since Pandaren/Vulpera are connected to LK and death, I deem it possible for at least the name San’Layn popping up somewhere along those intro quests. I wanna know what the heck happened to them.

Been curious af what happened to SanLayn since release of BFA. SanLayns involvement in the Alliance War campaign, Dreven getting killed and their unknown current leadership. Yet the SanLayn are still supposed to exist in numbers as a race.

One day having SanLayn as an Allied Race might be hopeful thinking, but I atleast expected some story continuation there. They played a pretty significant part in the campaign, just being cut like that without any word about them just doesnt add up. Even if Sylvanas ended up deciding not to recruit them, what the heck happened to them afterwards? Why werent they mentioned in any of the Horde quests? I expected there to be something on them by now.

Since Sylvanas and Helyas bargain the story telling has been Carrot on a stick like, teasing seemingly relevant things that happen behind our backs without unfolding those mysteries. Constantly being kept in the dark when it comes to lore, not knowing who represents who and whos war were actually fighting is becoming slightly tiring.

Im personally thinking Helya is that last Valkyr that Sylvanas has hidden up her sleeve, after all there is only one Valkyr we dont know the name of and Helya is the first original Valkyr. This happened 2 expansions ago, is still relevant in the story development and I still feel as clueless as I was in Stormheim Legion.

Not to mention the injustice that has been done to 15 years Forsaken narrative and the awkward position theyre in right now with Calia Menethil. Only thing Id find satisfying is the Forsaken claiming theyre lost and need Calia because Sylvanas has abandoned them. Just for Calia to travel to Undercity and find Sylvanas waiting for her, deceived and trapped by Sylvanas and the Forsaken.

However from what I know the Undercity is still covered in blight, so I must be mixing up literally everything now chronologically. I guess theres no choice but to stay patient a tad longer lol. Oops, I wrote far more than intented. Srry, not srry thnx k bye. Victory for Sylvanas, always <3

We caused their extinction, a payback for Teldrassil, no more San’layn for you it is a lost cause now.

Hmm, I will look up the specifics on how they worded that. Cus Im pretty sure the Alliance only ended Drevens leadership and something about them increasing their numbers as a race. Lemme find the relevant quotes

I think they put that part into Alliance campaign in order to get rid of San’layn demands of Horde players on US forums.

San’layn are a cool concept but Sylvanas isn’t Horde leader anymore.

The truth is - the Horde doesn’t benefit the San’layn and vise versa. If Calia takes leadership along with Alonsus, Lillian and perhaps Delaryn and Velonara, then what do the San’layn see in that sort of allegiance?

I’d rather Blood Elf Death Knights, just get red-glowing eyes like their High/Blood and Night Elf Dark Ranger friends. Allied races are a BFA thing and with the current times, the San’layn have no reason to be allied with the Horde because, the main point is, the Horde offers them nothing.

Hmm interesting, you made me think of another theory then. Thnx, Ima delve into the details of this all

Im 100% with you, with Sylvanas gone, SanLayn joining the Horde would be going in against all logic. All though, with Baine recently having reunited with Cairne and his mom, I have to think of Cairne reminding him of their culture of seeking harmony. Not destruction.

Which makes me think of history repeating itself in a similar manner. Where before Cairne gave the Forsaken a chance cus he believed in their redemption, this time Baine gives SanLayn and chance cus he believes in their redemption. Its a possible scenario, but Im hoping this is not how the story will play out.

You’re right, if the SanLayn would join the Horde, it would only be because some SanLayn scheming something and the Horde would just be a means to an end for them. I dont think its likely for them to need the Horde for anything, cant think of anything they wouldnt be able to do themselves. If theyd want to be in, itd be easy for them to make use of Baine his kindness, as he follows up his fathers ways, showed in the Tauren herritage scenario. Him becoming like his dad is a bit of an assumption though. He’d prolly be naive enough to fall for it.

Honestly, imo lightforged Forsaken such as Calia belong with the Alliance and should become an Alliance AR. Could not be an official lore thing and slightly biased, but light burns Forsaken their skin. Making Calia their leading would mean her presence constantly lighting up the undercity and eyeblinding Forsaken who prefer undercity in its usual dark grim state.

I could see Lillian having a similar sort of leadership as Lor’Themar, being Regent Lord for the Blood Elves. In such a manner Lilliian could be leader for the Forsaken, Regent Lady lol. I dunno what to call it, but no one will ever replace Sylvanas. Sylvanas is too strongly embedded in Forsaken culture, quotes, lore purpose, mentality and everything. Changing that would be retconning the Forsaken completely, imo

I personally really liked Thomas Zelling, he was a unique character and first of his kind being Forsaken Tidesage. He actually had a nice story, he was present throughout the campaign and there was actually something funny to him. Its a shame they killed him off, there was this nice chemistry between Thomas Zelling and Lilian Voss. Waste of potential writing, hopefully they bring him back from Shadowlands.

The only way I could see SanLayn fitting in the game and ongoing story development right now, is by running into them when we go to Shadowlands. Specifically for those players who have decided to go for Venthyr. If theyre really wiped out, then thats probably where they shall be anyway. No idea how thats gonna work out though.

Ohh yeah, more character customization Im up for it. And we prolly will hear more on that, as they already teased 40 new belf customization options which Im really curious about.

Mmmhm, depends on how you look at it though. Ultimately San’Layn were former Blood Knights, under Kaelthas His control when he and Illidan did an assault on Arthas when he was Lich King.

Actually, responding on that lore bit made me aware of Kaelthas actually leading those Blood Knights that became SanLayn if Im not mistaken. Im really starting to wonder now, since Kaelthas is with the Venthyr in Shadowlands as Blizz has stated. Whether or not Kaelthas could be with that covenant already, they also mentioned something about the leadership being a thing like they wanted a more fitting leader for the convant. Wonder if KaelThas will be that person, aspiring to become new leader of that Venthyr Covenant.

I feel like Im getting warmer lol gonna rofl if in a year time I turn out to be right. Ohhhhhh I wanna see Kaelthas and Sylvanas in a dialogue! <3

It’s not bad but since you are a Nightborne your name should be Bubblewine.

Dreven was added in BFA before that , after WOLTK there are two missing Blood Princes , and Dreven came with Neophytes , meaning trainees so no San’layn are not gone, I also want more on their lore especially want to see what the Venthyr has to say if they have a connection

After I race changed I was like hell no iM not going to Shadowlands as a Nightborne I always consider my belf to be part of the ones that survived the Arthas thing and respects Sylvanas unlike what they did to Lorthemar

I’ll be honest i do like Lor’themar.

I like the fact that he is just an average ranger. No super powers, just the will to help his people and do what’s considered best for them. No chose one , no prophet, no magical bull$hit.

I do ,however, hate the fact that for some reason whenever he gets screen time, Blizzard pairs his story with Jaina’s story.

He is supposed to have resentment towards her, he should have sided with those Sindorei mages/ Dark Rangers that confronted Jaina’s terrorism

Lor’themar’s quite the pushover if you ask me. He was way too quick to forgive the purge.

Well, he did protest a lil bit there. I guess Thalyssra can be very convincing. Besides hes prolly even more of a pushover, when Thalyssra demands him to stamp grapes for her Arcwine. No rest for the poor man.

I kinda find it ridiculous that some people are being salty with this Sylvanas victory over Lich King. But they completely ignore the fact we, as players defeated Lich King in ICC? So it’s fine when we do it but when Sylvanas does it they QQ? I think that’s just pure Sylvanas hatred and it’s ironic, Lol.

Victory for Sylvanas!

I mean, we really did not defeat him.

He actually one shot all of us with fury of frostmourne.

Tyrion one shot his frostmourne though but few years after he got killed by random demon.

So, no consistency I suppose.

I do think that LK was made to seem to weak, but maybe it was Blizzard’s intention to show Sylvanas’ Immense new power.
