Mainly classic. I still give retail a shot for a week or two on new patches or to complete certain challenges (most recently A Tour of Towers) but that’s about. I can’t seem to stick around for long, because of all the fragmentation and systems.
On last patch I even wanted play and get the M+ mount, but by the time I got up to +12 keys I just got too bored of doing the same thing but a little harder and getting the same items but with higher stats, like +2 in 240 gear or +12 in 260 just had almost the same feeling.
Hard to say if I would still be continuously subbed without classic
Playing mostly retail when it comes to wow and if I feel like going on an adventure leveling I’d pick a low level character on classic and level her a little.
I don’t even have retail client installed, and never so much as considered installing it since I resubbed for Classic in August 2019. Last time I was logged in retail was briefly during Mists, where I played levelling characters for a couple evenings with my little brother who wanted to “try” WoW as he turned 12. Haven’t logged on my “main” since 4.2 patch in Cata.
I mostly play classic nowadays. I sometimes login to retail and level up yet another toon to 30+ or something. I have 0 interest in SL content and I think I will skip Dragonflight (first time to skip expansion for me )
I exclusively play Classic and would NOT stay subbed if Classic was discontinued. I tried Retail a few months back, and got a few characters to lvl 20 or so before I got bored. It just didn’t click with me.
I mostly play SL right now because I like doing bgs and arenas with alot of alts. And swapping between alts.
Im excited for Wotlk classic and will probably focus on that.
In terms of classic tbc I feel behind everything… my highest is lvl 43 and dont have anyone to level up with. Otherwise I prefer the classic gameplay, but its hard for the casual me who likes alts.
Only reason I came to classic is to escape the embaressemnt of current Retail wow lore namely horde and forsaken right now. I am sure you figure that out.
Started to play WoW in 2005 and was extremely active untill mid Cataclysm. Lost interest due to too many changes that I disliked (one of them was ruining vanilla world).
Today I prefer classic as Retail feels like a empty, single player game with bland classes… and so on (could go on forever here)
Now though I am not sure if my time to quit has finally come. Firemaw was my server. Loved it horde side untill yesterday. Was superactive even if Alliance outnumbered us. With the exodus to Gehennas that is single faction ( I hate single faction servers ) .
I have always loved Pvp server for that adrenaline rush and anger you get when ganked. It creates a tension.
Back in vanilla I started on Earthen Ring… but something was missing. I met horde players in Ashenwale… but we just looked at each other. So I was one of those spamming old forums with “we need a RP-Pvp” server. We got it with Defias Brotherhood and The Venture and Co. And what a blast it was.Defias Brotherhood was a beautiful server for at least 7 years…
Retail = Dead to me
Classic = Loved it untill yesterday
We discuss LDF in Wrath, and then Terres as an argument, or counter-argument spouts Mytic and Retail examples. I just don’t get it, I stop reading, and instead start wondering if I’m the only one not understanding what she says.
This is the reason, I asked. Not anything else. no petition for Classic only subs, no hidden agenda whatsoever. Plain curiosity.
And Furia:
No, I can’t /don’t. Please explain. I have not played Retail since BfA (Fall of '18) and even well before this I played mostly IronMan Challenge or did professions on my main.
I was on DB as well (started in TBC), I remember my first big PvP event (I was lvl 40-something and most others were like geared 70s xD), it had been organized as a big battle and there were dozens of us on either side. We completely destroyed the Alliance (I would obviously only fight players around my level) and went on to attack their cities. IIRC we killed Tyrande and went on to Ironforge, but started to lose steam around then. Still, it was fun!
I also remember that some people Horde side had started nostalgia raids for Vanilla (which I had obviously never done), so my first raid was AQ40. IIRC the toughest part of it was Twin Emps - and I somehow got Gloves of the Hidden Temple there (my very first epic item). Though I realized there that raiding didn’t really appeal to me.
I could never really get into WotLK though, something about Northrend put me off, even though I loved WC3. And the less said about Cata’s butchery of old Azeroth and questing, the better!
I originally created my account in 2005 and really fell in love with the game. Over the years it was extremely sad and frustrating seeing the game lose it’s integrity with the increased micro transactions and the lack of innovation in the genre and a push for the game to be more of an instanced game.
During Shadowlands, I actually deleted (yes, you read that right) my 15+ year old account.
I created a new account just to play a bit of classic. To say the least, I will never play retail ever again.
