I only have the new bags + hearthstone in my bags and there is 39 slots of free bagspace in total.
Still whenever I try to equip one of the new bags, regardless of where I drag them, the game tells me “no equipment slot is available for that item” despite me having 39 free slots.
I have seen other topics with similar issues, but the ONLY thing that has worked is to install the addon “Elvui” and then you can replace your old bags just fine.
That should not be necessary, as a workaround.
This is clearly a bug, that must have come with the new UI changes or some patch.
Before I remember being able to simply drag and drop the new bag over the old bags on the bag-interface, but that feature has since been removed by Blizzard for unknown reasons.
I am just trying to raise awareness on the issue, I know I can fix it by installing elvui and then removing it after, but that should not be necessary. This must be fixed by a wow-dev.

It has been almost 5 months, and not a single reply from someone official about this.
You wonder how much they care about customer support, this shows you.
Have you tried removing your old bags from the slots first. And make sure the bags you are removing are completely empty.

Are you actually having the same issue, Flowchart? If so, please do try to reset your interface and give it another go.

How do I remove a bag? If I separate the bags, I can only choose how I want to assign the bag.
If I could remove the bags it might be easier
Drag it from the bag slot into another bag with free space. And remember: The bag you are moving must be completely empty.
I tried just now to delete both Interface and WTF folders, but I still get the message “No equipment slot is available for that item”.
This is while having 90 free bag slots by the way.
Any more advice I can try? I need to completely re-do my UI as well now after deleting all of that.
I cannot drag and drop it, this is default blizzard UI I am using.
When I click on separate bags toggle so I can see the bag icons, nothing happens when I try to drag the icon.
Does the icon move together with your cursor or it just stays static in the slot?
Also can you write the exact names of your old and new bags? Just wondering if they are
reagent bags?
It just stays static.
But if I press combined bags, I dont see any bag-icons I can click.
I got the problem fixed!
It was the new 34 slot bags regular ones not profession-bags.
It was not possible to solve the issue with default blizzard-interface.
I had to install Elvui and toggle bags to see and drag and drop the old bags.
This was not possible with default game UI, I had to download external addons.
Strange. I have never used an add-on and I have always been able to rearrange bags the way I want.
Yeah I dont know why it doesnt work for me, even with a complete UI reset.
And you mean that you can drag and change bags from the default UI without issue?
Yes, never had any issues with the default UI.

Empty the bags. Then sell the bags by draging them to the buy back tab.
