Still don't understand why human fem/blood elf male for Dracthyr

Dragons can basically take whatever race they wish for their humanoid form. Usually they’re human or elf, but we’ve seen gnome, tauren, dwarf, even vulpera, so there doesn’t seem to be any rules about this.

So why only human female/male blood elf for our Dracthyr? And before someone tries to argue they arn’t humans or elves because they have slightly different faces with spikey stuff on them… no, they’re humans and elves.

Why couldn’t we just have the option to choose any race we wanted as our Dracthyr visage? Or rather, any race from the side (Horde/Alliance) that we picked. This would have been an actual fun customization option that gave us a way to make our characters more unique by displaying a feature of their personality (ie. which race/culture do they most relate to?). It wouldn’t have even required any extra work - just the base characters would be fine.

It’s so dissapointing for that Dracthyr quest giver to talk about how your visage choice is iNtErEsTinG and really reflects “who you are inside” when there is no actual choice to chose your appearence other than picking from which neon hair colour you want. And it makes no sense to arrive in Ogrimmar and then go to choose a visage to fit in with your new Horde buddies and to have chosen… human.

I think it is, at least to a degree, ideological art design. The drac’thyr, unsurprisingly, have a strong theme of gender ambiguity, and blood elf females are basically ‘bimbo-ish’ and thus not seen as fitting for ‘the agenda’, while the men are ‘irresistibly’ metrosexual.

What might also have been a factor is that the drac’thyr are for both factions, so Blizzard might have thought that it would only be fair to give one visage from each faction to them.
What speaks somewhat against that is that blood elves were given to both factions by now, so making both visages human would have brought some balance to the overall lineup.

Personally I would enjoy the choice of a proud Orc visage to my drak.

Generally it would had been quite awesome if we could disguise as every other race in the visage form.

If they want to have the theme of “be who you feel you want to be” with the new character creation changes, I think they should open the floodgates for even more visage options

There is a case of a red dragon who took an orc form
Acridostrasz - Wowpedia - Your wiki guide to the World of Warcraft (fandom.com)

Also Kairozdormu took an orc form.

Generally the known forms so far are:
Human, night elf, Gnome, Half-elf, blood elf, Orc, goblin, Tauren, dwarf and now Vulpera.

There is some extra black dragon with an orc form now

Usually they are Human or Elves because they can indeed choose what race they want as a visage form.
This means by selecting the “most standard” race in society’s eye allows them to interact to the other races eassier and “be charming” at the same time, making it eassier to get others do what they want.

It is only logical they are the most standard “prettiest” races as Visage form.

Unfortunately for us they seem to have been big fans of Elton John.

They reused those models but they lack distinctive elf features like the high elf ears or eyebrows. At what point do you consider them to be different? Are mogu just draenei? Are vulpera just goblins? (I say yes to the 2nd one)

Goblins with less capitalism and more fur

This. I dislike the special features that you are forced to use on the visage form. You can disable most of them, but a couple are mandatory.

Just the idea of potentially being able to have the visage of an orc while being alliance or a living human as Horde, is really tempting.

I am picturing it now… an evoker in orc visage, walking around with a recolor of the T2 classic shaman set…

It especially doesnt make sense for the ones who went to Orgrimmar to choose a female human visage as they probably have never seen one at the point!
But Im assuming it was just to have a fairly popular base model in order to create tons of customizations.

It would be nice to be able to choose from more races, maybe with very very basic customizations like horns (for non horned races) and dragon eyes.

I wish I could have had a dark iron dwarf visage.

If I could pick any playable race as my visage I would actually play a Dracthyr.

Now it’s a hard pass.

My guess is because they were under a rock for 20k years they don’t know about any of the other races and just kinda went with their own thing.
But really the issue is the rigs they use, should’ve given them unique ones instead of just reusing the male belf and human female rigs which are imo the worst with their terrible idle stances and run animations.

Human females look like 40 years old soccer moms, nothing gender ambiguous about them. Heck, they’re boring how normal they look.

Take your politics somewhere else please.

In the quest line to get the visage they literally dive straight into storm wind and the first people they see are humans so I guess that’s what imprinted into them.
I hope they do a quest line in the future to unlock new visage races, make it like the dreadsteed make it long and rewarding.
