Still No Fair Way to get Vault LFR Gear from Catalyst

10.2 and still no way of getting the LFR tint from the first raid unless you suffer the queues, the groups, and the excruciating RNG loot + roll system. Can we just get a vendor or allow some basic open-world gear to be used…?

It’s such a shame when stuff like this is just ignored. It’s something small but still an oversight. If Blizzard were just aware of it then it’d be so easy to quickly implement!

Still? It was possible throughout most of 10.1. :dracthyr_shrug:
You could change certain raid gear to LFR gear.

I know this for a fact, because it’s how I got LFR full set, normal full set and several heroic pieces. All of them through the catalyst.

Seems that you’re not quite getting it. You can still use the catalyst, but there is no gear OUTSIDE of running the LFR that can be used in it for the LFR specific tints.

You are stuck with waiting for long queues, hoping for decent groups, hoping the item drops and then contesting with everyone else for a chance at maybe getting it. It’s tedious and not fun at all.

Been that way since 4.3

Been that way since 4.3. But look on the bright side! As us LFR scumbags who are ruining wow for the elites are always being reminded, you can just go afk and one person can solo the entire raid!

(And if you believe that you’ll never want for moon cheese)

Oh the temerity someone like me who doesn’t do Normal or above may actually “need” roll on an item…

Yes isn’t it…

loses out on a need roll to someone with a higher gear score by rolling 7 to their 98

Jeez, you’re antsy.

Yes, looking for LFR transmogs has been a think for many expansions now, but with Dragonflight has the catalyst. You can use non-raid gear for almost every tint except for the LFR from the first raid. That’s the issue.

It’s not really “elite” to know when to swap, or that something needs soaked, or that the icy Spider Boss spawns at the bottom of the stairs, but yeah, seems you are butthurt about something.

The gear is also ilvl 376. There is already one raid ahead and another on the way. Dungeons provide better gear at this point.

Vault is old content. That’s why the queues are long. Why this is all tedious. Why it could be easily fixed with a change to what gear is allowed in the catalyst. If they gave an alternative like the next raids have, then we wouldn’t be nicking your precious LFR gear score upgrades.

Just concentrate on the higher tier colours at the start of the Season as that’s where you should be focusing anyway.

Then towards the end of the Season, when you have stashed up Catalyst Charges, and low ilvl gear is available on Vendors for some easy to farm currency, spend the charges on converting for the LFR and Normal sets.

It’s simple. Just prioritise your time more efficiently.

That was true for Season 1, but during Season 2 you can use Dreamsurge (and time rift) gear to convert.

On a side note, I went away Mid July, which was about 2 months into the Season. On my main I had all the items I needed to put through the Catalyst for all 4 colours. I just needed the charges. I came back 8 weeks later and had 8 charges built up.

Wait for fated i guess. :man_shrugging:t2:

Ah, so this is the issue.

Meh. First tier was ugly as butt anyway.

If you say so. I’m not the one grumbling (sic) about having to wait for LFR tints.

I know… Its brilliant most lfr mogs looking the best…

Really… Really… Judging by the people getting their knickers in a twist over it before loudly yelling at everyone “YOU ALL SUCK! I’VE DONE THIS ON HEROIC! LOOK AT MY DPS AND ACHIEVEMENT AND TREMMMMMMBLE!!” before rage quitting the raid kinda gives weight to my argument about “elites”.

lol “soaked”…

“Everyone! Stand on that spot and soak that thing coming!”

What you mean absorb it?

“NO!! SOAK IT!”

So you don’t know what soak means just like the first person who said this…

“HUH??!! THATS WHAT SOAK MEANS!”

Hmm. *looks up definition of soak". Yup. You’re right… It means to stand in a group and await an incoming thing… Who knew… (lol)

He does!!! Here’s me in every single group I’ve ever been in standing at the top of the stairs like melons! (methinks you need a better example…)

Again… not really. I’m not the one complaining I’m not getting priority on LFR drops.

(loud slurp from soda) Do carry on.

Is this your first LFR season? I refer you to my previous answer that long queues have been a thing for LFR since 4.3, You might not remember it. it was Dragon Soul when LFR was first brought in. And they get even longer as the season progresses as more and more people get what they want from it.

Or they wait until the Bronze Drake appears outside the raid entrance to enable LFR mode for soloing. That’s what the vast majority of people do.

Can’t say Ive ever had a problem with the catalyst. Again it seems your problem is that you don’t get priority on the drops in the raid.

You can “steal” my lfr upgrades all day long if you like, I’ll be laughing at the bottom feeder needing on lfr drops as I do now and also shaking my head in bewilderment at the guy who needs on an item and takes it from someone who genuinely needs it.

Imagine if I was to come into your level of raid, win an item and when asked “can I have that? I need it for an upgrade?” and I replied “nah sorry, I need it for transmog…”

That’s not true. You have 2 options:

  • M+2 end-of-run armor
  • Time Rifts weekly armor

In 10.1.5 the armor reward you got once per week from those Time Rifts near Valdrakken could be converted at the Catalyst to LFR transmogs. I used that to collect tons of LFR transmog sets with my alts. M+2 end-of-run armor also works, but it you might get unlucky and need to farm a ton until you get the drop you’re looking for.

In 10.2, I assume the weekly Superbloom armor will be convertable to LFR tier with the Catalyst.

It is. He is talking about the Vault of the incarnates tier, not Aberrus tier.
There was an oversight on season 1 where there was no world gear that would be changed on the catalyst to LFR gear like there was in season 2. It only changed to normal.
Which means that if you didn’t do it while it was current it’s impossible to do now unless you run voti raid finder or wait some years until you can solo it.

Season 1 LFR tier gear was actually quite difficult to get cause of the group loot.
To prevent any confusions we are talking about the transmogs here, not the actual ilvl gear. That is irrelevant.

I’m fairly sure that M+2 end-of-run gear was convertible to LFR gear in season 1 as well. But yeah, it’s harder to get now.

Not sure fated will help if i recall. The catalyst will change it into season 3 transmog.
I don’t recall if the actual tokens with the old gear dropped but i don’t think they did.

But if there are non tier look alikes those should still be acquirable through the dreaded group loot system. :grimacing:

Even if we assume we get a fated season, we don’t know how catalyst will work because SL had one tier set while DF has 3.

Feel like its all but confirmed at this point
