Stop creating dead content

I’m so confused by Blizzard’s direction - Zaralek Caverns was released two months ago yet the zone is completely dead. Want to do the researchers under fire weekly quest - nope, want to maybe see another player in an MMORPG in this new zone - nope. Why pour so much resource into a zone and make it COMPLETELY irrelevant two months later. What morons are in charge of the resource management at Blizz? I honestly feel terrible for the staff under the management knowing that their 6 - 12 months of hard work is going to be irrelevant 2 months down the line because senior game designer Barry wants to stamp his mark on the WoW franchise and thus, everything before that means nothing.

I just don’t understand, why do they CHOOSE to start from scratch every single expansion and patch, moronic beyond disbelief.

Don’t care for anyone’s opinion on this, I am clearly screaming into the abyss as they continue to start new every… single… time (Y). Nice.

Would you like a pat on the head?

But yeah, Zaralek approach is… odd. They say they didn’t want the rares to be the maina activity of the zone, but there are no other activities there! At least none that you can just do whenever you like. Would have been better if it was more like the Forbidden Reach - even if it’s just that the rares drop 1-2 drake crest fragments every time. At least it’d be something to get low geared alts over the hump to 424 if people aren’t in the mood to run dungeons.

I recommend groupfinder for anything in there. But I agree, they managed to make it quite pointless in a short amount of time. It’s a shame, they could probably revitalise it at least somewhat by tweaking a few things and making the rares daily again, altho I’m guessing it’d be too little too late by now.

They are churning out more frequent content patches which is something they have been criticised for having lacked in the past. I’m really impressed with the pace, and ofc that means the previous end game becomes somewhat obsolete when the newer stuff is released.

However with Zaralek Caverns they killed it not that long after release with the strange change to how rares work. I was genuinely surprised they didn’t revert that.

Strange thing is, I logged on today for the first time in a week or so, and flew through the caverns straight away, doing the researchers and group guests/world bosses in no more than 30 mins

… wondering how long the Time Rift activity will last for … already I am seeing some not as full and not managing to get the 3rd bag as It is not reaching 7000 before heading to the portal … today was reset day and a few today were quiet

Indeed, I am happy that they are trying to pump out content.

I just don’t understand why they turned around and killed it within a couple of weeks such that it is now not content… really weird choice. I go to ZC for 20 mins/week on each of 3 characters to get 1500 Niffen rep, then I run away. I don’t kill rares, I do researchers in a raid team, and cherrypick rep quests and a couple of digs.

Which is such a shame because Forbidden Reach was fantastic. I loved the alt catch-up gear that kept it busy, but for some strange reason the devs forgot that this formula worked and threw it away :pensive:

So you’re saying… I should have done them earlier, not blasted dungeons with my augvoker? But it was so obviously going to get nerfed :pensive:

Would you prefer zones like the maw/korthea/ZM that were only full of people because they had gated power grinds that provided upgrades for everyone?

No.

I nearly quit the game in SL because so much of my time was wrapped up in tasks I didn’t want to do, but which were pre-requisites for being any good in other areas of the game.

because today was the reset day for EU
nothing strange in here.

the only extra zone that was somewhat alive was nazjatar. pvp was hilarious back than
argus the maw and zaralek is just a boring chore

All I wanted was herbs… and they only spawned there. Me vs 3-4 flocks of druid bots. Was not good quality gaming, imo :pensive:

i dont see many multiboxers anymore maby because dragonriding is hard ?
ido know bots managed to figure out

i want to correct myself about zaralek, its not a chore, its just boring

Tbf the content was largely irrelevant (for mains) from the get go. Beyond Onyx Annulet and cosmetics I can’t recall much if any world content giving rewards worth the time investment (again for mains).

If only they put those resources into content that isn’t dead 2 weeks later

Well, the only games where the world stays relevant for long time are pvp sandboxes. Many here think a community is only made up of die hard PvPers and casuals who hate any form of PvP, but there’s a large group who’s neutral about it and simply doesn’t care. They’d never queue for an arena, but if their guild tells them to log in at 8PM for a scheduled siege on an open world fortress so they can occupy a region, they’d happily join as foot soldiers.

But in WoW everyone wants access to everything and PvP has been banished into a tiny corner, isolated from resources and economy.
They know fully well that purely PvE based open world content is a dead concept and the majority won’t run it more than once regardless of how fun it is, unless it’s tied to borrowed power.

and it doesn’t help that we haven’t had enjoyable open world content ever, flying only makes it more bearable and without it, it’s a chore.

You guys know why they push out these buggy and dead after a couple of weeks patches? So people stay subbed. There isn’t a lot of money in players taking 4-5 month breaks.

Excuse me?

  • World Quests
  • Help the Expediton Excavators!
  • “Burried Treasure”-maps

I guess those don’t exist?

Agreed. They are going through content at an alarming pace where it’s frenetic in the first two weeks and dead 2 more weeks after.
The island we had with catch up gear was pretty cool and it’s now completely empty and the one that replaced it, the caverns are already dead despite being current.
I don’t know what’s going on. If this is how it’s gonna go, it’s best to go back to the big patches every 5-6 months cause the design does not support the current content release cadence.
