Stop Data mining

If anyone here actively participates in this, please stop!! I am actively avoiding all info on SoD changes as I’m sure many others are.

However with all the data mining it is very hard not to get snippets of what has been found out, either from reading threads on WoW or from WoW related content elsewhere where data mined material is included in the titles of the videos that are recommended !

It’s only one week away, by all means datamine but please keep it to yourself or your discords

Data mining on SoD from the 1.15 PTR hasn’t really shown much tbh. A few items, some number changes, but the stuff people talk most about like runes were things revealed at blizzcon.

Stop spreading information about data mining. Even with your post you actively advertise data mining. Stop ruin my immersion.

100% agree.

I see YouTube videos in my feed suggesting meta builds etc despite not having all the variables. Most of it is designed for zombie gamers and to generate ad revenue. I’m more inclined to watch videos on peoples thoughts and ideas about what they have planned for their own gaming experience moving forward into SoD. I avoid “Meta” “Content creators” like the plague that they are, all they do is advertise to the weak minded and easily manipulated crowd imho, there’s so many impressionable people that need guidance of the community, not meta guidance imho.

Though I’m a firm advocate that people should play though own way and find happiness in this. I just wish Blizzard could create a way to separate the different gaming types and make for a better environment for people to gel with like minded gamers, as there are clearly massive differences in which we play the game.

Thats what guilds are for, find a guild that isnt min maxing the crap out of the game and enjoy it, like the good old days.

Then don’t read the WoW forums and stop watching WoW streamers. Very simple.

Data mining is actually against the Terms of Use but no one seems to care.

Data mining won’t change the fact that horde guilds will be dueling each other for raiding priest

I don’t watch streamers, I am an adult man !! However I, like most people use YouTube and watch wow related content. These pop SoD into my recommendations containing information which has been data mined in the title. Which makes it impossible not to see !

I suppose I could smash my phone though

So let me get this straight, you want to avoid datamined information, and to manage that, you want everyone else to not talk about datamined information instead of you not going to places where datamined information are?

Well it is 2023…almost 24. It is not about “going to places” to find the information. It is more that the algorithm already knows that Pinkywinky likes World of Warcraft. This world of warcraft creator has released a popular video, with spoilers in the title, which is popular with people who like the same things as Pinky winky. So the algorithm puts it in Pinkywinkys feed on YouTube. Meaning that when Pinkywinky opens his phone to watch a YT video on something completely unrelated to WoW, he finds that it is impossible not to see the video with the spoilers in the title recommended to him.

I am not seeking out the content, it seeks out me !

What kind of spoilers have you seen in the titles then?

Nah I want Datamining to be stopped for everyone so people don’t discover everything about season of discovery two weeks before it is even out.
Imagine eldren ring gets announced and people already know every bossfight and every weapon before the game is even out.

If I type here, then others might get spoiled

You can always write it under hide details, the little gear icon in the forum text editor.

We have the technology!

Stop spoiling things to him, now he needs to explain himself.

Summary

I have seen YouTube titles with information like “HUNTER 30% crit rune OP”
“Paladins NERFED…X spell [can’t remember the name but the one that cleaves] Is gone?”
“Hunter nerfed, only 15% crit now!!!”
“SoD, 15% speed mounts for ashenvale ?”
“Warlock get CHAOS BOLT ?!”
“Rogue OP, 20 energy reduction on AMBUSH”
and so on and so forth, click bait titles explaining spoilers. I don’t even know if most of these are true because I don’t watch the videos but I’d imagine most if not all probably are

I have posted above. Thank you poster for showing me how to hide the spoilers

I just need to ask you one thing then, did you watch Blizzcon?
