Stop making NPCs trauma dump

Oh god, don’t even get me started on Magni. The way they portray his feeling about Azeroth not talking to him since BFA and feeling trapped in his Diamond body, made him look like a stroppy toddler throwing his toys out of the room. This guy was a bloody king, forged Ashbringer and fought in several wars since the Second War. The way he is acting just doesn’t fit someone who has lived that life, or an adult for that matter.

He can resent Azeroth for not talking to him, feeling abandoned and trapped in his diamond body (heck that’s an interesting story), but the way they portrayed that was just bad.

Yea . Honestly the whole pre patch is just “trauma dump” as you describe it . I didn’t get anything at all on what is happening .
All I saw is Magni having abandonment issues from Azeroth . And Moira having abandonment issues from Magni .
All the meanwhile Thrall and Kahdgar sit on the side in a circle repeating “Together we are stronger and will overcome this” " Together" “Together” .

Did I make a wrong turn somewhere on my way to Dalaran and ended up in United Alcoholic’s Support Group EU . At which point are we supposed to clap here and share our own stories of why we chose the bottle .

I learned 0 about what is going on and why are we seeing these “Visions” .

The entire game starting with DF had become a ‘’ trauma dump ‘’ and I think Blizz will continue on this path.

This theme drives me crazy. It’s peak level cringe.

yup, alot fo people here seemt o want an emotionless storyline with zero backstory and thats not how stories work!
You need emotions for characters actions to have some depth. Most of the major players in WoW have serious issues going back to childhood in some cases…they would just be cardboard cutouts without those issues.

Just be grateful that Blizz have started including the ‘stay a while and listen’ sections. Surely its nice to have big exposition dumps placed somewhere with warning and no consequence if you dont care about backstory?

So your issue is balance and it not being overloaded? A little bit of emotional consequence but not too significant

 (thats only commet i can do )

PTSD hits hard

they are after years of wars and big bads destroying world.

this who came has ncs which are texbook cases of ptsd :stuck_out_tongue:

Couldn’t care less about NPCs problems, there is no meaningful character development or character arc for them anyway. Oh no my beautiful house, burned down…yeah yeah here, I killed the 14 bandits for you, where is my blue trash and XP?

Yeah for sure. That was pretty horrible to endure.
It also felt like there was some other not so hidden agenda behind it.

No one is saying that. Why are there people who keep thinking this? lol We’re complaining it is over the top, or cringe, or weird, or poorly done, or too much.

Not “I hate emotion. Emotion bad. Remove emotion. Feeling bad. Feelings for babies. I want stone cold dead pan macho grim dark characters who laugh in the face of misery and suffering and snicker at those who don’t.”

It honestly is just badly done, and all the things I said before. It seriously needs a rethinking on because it’s just getting too obnoxious.

you guys see the new animated thingy?: Alleria: Light and Shadow | The War Within | World of Warcraft (youtube.com)

One of my favourite side quests in game honestly.

Has no one watched Lord of the Rings? A man can cry, offer forgiveness even after a betrayal, mourn those lost, and still be the manliest hero out there. War is trauma. We’re all old enough to learn the viewpoint of this and learn to empathize. Especially with so many at war in real life.

Anduin needs to process his trauma and yet he’s still out there fighting to help save people.

A more realistic depiction of characters would include their issues, emotions and such. Because sentient beings have those, generally speaking.

I think this is a you thing. Maybe you should talk to a professional about why it bothers you so much. There could be something you discover about yourself.

Having played through the main questline and several side quests I dont know what people are moaning about!
This expansion has way less depth then DF. Its mostly a bunch of random ‘kill things’ quests. Even when an NPC dies it isnt that dramatic…in Hallowfall I lost one NPC on the first quest in a chain so presumably had to try and care about him retroactively!
Then also in Hallowfall we do a big quest chain with the last mage and he gets murdered whilst we are off doing other things and there is nobody around to care (except the general says ‘whoops! guess I should of given him a guard…oh well!’ when we tell her).

This expansion is very light on trauma dumps IMO.

there are two or so therapy quest. Maybe do some of them, should help you xD

they are out of ideas to make cool and interesting stuff so they do this, and the general population eats it because its trending…nobody is complaining about the said ‘‘trauma’’ but how blizzard depicts it in a very uninteresting way
