MoP was actually the last exp where the story made some sense, and I can freely say the last quality exp. Legion story was fine, but again we had one big bad guy behind it all, just like now.

Ye but that big guy was there since the start, his story and reasoning was build by multiple games, expansions and patches.
Now we have the Jailer, and he is “just evil” I guess ? :S
These writers, really don’t know anything how to build up tension, momentum and interest in the character,
I’m not interested in dealing with the Jailer, more than doing my dailies in Qul’danas lol,
I dont even know who is he, what does he wants, and why … there is nothing about him, he is just “evil” LOL

He’s been manipulating everything in several cosmic ‘realms of existence’ in the universe, at the same time, including planet sized entities.
Admittedly the story pacing in Shadowlands would have been much better, on the original pre-Covid time schedule.
But where ? when ? who ?

I did all the quests and there was only explanation in shadowlands in some value, but before shadowlands we did not even know that he exists, in contrast we knew about the titans and Sargeras waaay sooner, so I think there is no point proving that the Jailer is a detailed, well built up, villain.
Even Nobbel, who is “the Lore guy” and making lore vids to Wowhead is on the same opinion.
The Jailer is just one of the worst villains WoW ever had.
Yeah, that’s why I say that story was fine. With the Jailer they probably wanted to achieve a similar effect as with Sargeras, to develop his story, but luckily they realized that people are fed up with these banal stories, and so after 9.2 he will probably go into oblivion.
With the Jailer, they tried to solve the story for the next few exps. Out of nowhere, a big bad guy has appeared who will do many bad things in the next few exps, we will fight him and that’s it. They chose the easiest path where you can only see how limited and idealess they are.
I know some very young amateur writers who would write a far better and more exciting story.
My 6 year old brother would write a better story 
Or there could be the turn in the story, one time, that actualy, at the end of this exp. we LOOSE, that would be interesting.

One of the really, really important points about being the biggest villain, secretly pulling the strings behind the scenes, is not to have an enormous flashing neon sign, telling everyone that you are the biggest villain, secretly pulling all the strings behind the scenes, plus the entirety of your devious plans and manipulations, several Xpacs in advance,
That would be like sitting down with a six year old to watch a movie and the kid wanting to know the entire story as the film starts, then spending the rest of the film asking why everything is happening, while stating they should have been allowed to write the script because they like their own version of the story better… and to be clear, every character in every story has plot armour, when it is necessary…except Sean Bean.

For me, this is probably the biggest disappointment. All those separate cool stories from the past have come down to one big bad guy.

The problem is that the Jailer was not even mentioned, anyhow or anyway in the past,
Just dropped in in Shadowlands,
And he is a supposed to be “super villain” who was there all along,
I think he was not even there, they just dropped him in with a weak idea, that “he was there all along”
He is so evil that we did not even mention him before anyhow or anyway, because he has no footstep anywhere in the lore, or any hint about him.
The Jailer is a hollow try of implementing something.

Some people left cause of gameplay, some people left cause of pvp, some people left cause of mythic+, I kept playing cause I just wondered or hoped that they might have a reasonable choice or some very nice turn around ending for Shladowlands, or some convenient stories. The lore kept me playing, but it seems like Pyromancer was right, WoW lore is dead. And from this now it cannot be redeemed anyhow,

What is more outrageous, they give the Helm of Domination to Pelagos 
How badly you must design the story, to give one of the most iconic items from the whole game to a guy, who literally did nothing in the whole expansion, just got introduced like a half a year ago and was so insignificant that I cant tell it with words.
