if that is true … that is just hilariously bad…

but this was of public domain almost 2 weeks ago…
Lets start a petition, to overthrow this bad writting and the people who made them,
I dont want bad for them, just good for the game, they can do something else,
Just “force” Blizz somehow to replace these bad writers with convenient people.
How can we start a petition ?
Does it really matter any more? This can’t be undone. The bell can’t be unrung.
Yea I know,
It cannot be undone,
But we can prevent another massive future bad design by starting a petiton,
I only play wow because of lore and SL lore is abysmal, I don’t even want to talk about it. I’m still looking forward to the next expansion though. As bad as BFA was in terms of writing it still addressed cool things about Azeroth and the new continents were amazing. Just make an expansion about healing the wounds of the 4th War and I’ll be happy I think
EDIT : Oh yea. Ogres. Add Ogres
I miss the campaign of WC II and WC III, thats the true lore!
I love that the helm of domination got turned into what it looks like an helmet from a mildly leveled character from a mobile game that you tried to play seriously but gave up because you couldnt bother to continue to end game.
And the give it to one of the least significant characters in the whole Warcraft universe,
I think we, and the item and the whole community deserve better that this “joke”.
Now only N’zoth can be our savior and wake us up later and we realize that it was just a bad joke
They did that in wod i would allow to happen again
To be fair, I don’t care, they should have just left it destroyed. But if they want to fix it, make it look rubbish, and give it to an NPC we’ll never see again after SL well, that’s as good as destroyed too. Either way, the Helm of Domination ended when Mary Sylvanas snapped it in two.
See the thing with something being iconic, like an item that is worn, is that it is associated with the person who wears it. The Helm stopped really being iconic at the end of WotLK when Bolvar plonks it on his head, but obviously it was the denouement of the Expansion, so really, it stopped being important anymore, until it featured again and was destroyed.
Well, I mean, arguably getting fired as some here are suggesting is kinda bad for them!
Also I think I read somewhere that Blizzard don’t actually react to petitions, they don’t have to, and given that not every player would even know there is a petition, it’s a drop in the ocean in terms of how seriously it would be taken. Sadly.
What has ‘woke’ got to do with anything stated here?
I mean the basic premise of every expansion makes coherent sense, with the exception of WoD, that was just silly (Though I actually enjoyed that expansion) but this whole idea that Sylvanas is Kerrigan 2.0 just makes me shake my head in wonder as to how a company with such a huge turnover can hire such absolute amateurs, who write a story with plot holes so large, you could drive a bus through them…
We got more chance of the world actually being flat than Danuser refraining from massacring the lore, his waifu can do whatever she wants and he doesn’t care how much crap he’s gotta retcon to do it.
Dont forget about flying rocks we have “never” seen before
Who?
Cant rly find any, jailer is just obstacle without character or clear motivation who couldnt even stop us with full power in hearth of his domain, more like a joke then villain
Better something then nothing .
They should try a new way as to how their creative team works. Lemme give an example, at a big LARP system of 1000+ players, the Faction I run has four Nations in it. We have a team of writers who write the overall plot for the -Faction-, which is fine -BUT- you are not allowed to write national plot if you are in that nation, because of conflict of interest.
Blizz should do that, any of the creatives or writers should simply not be allowed to influence plot affecting their pet NPC(s) so for example Christie Golden gets no influence over any plot regarding Jaina, Anduin and Baine (She has stated they are her three favourite characters, and Baine only because he In game likes Jaina and Anduin!) ‘Snip’ Nope Christie, you get to write stuff involving Talanji, Alleria and Velen instead. (I’m talking plot for the game here, not their own actual novels obviously!) Steve Danuser? Well his favourite race is the Forsaken, and at times it seems like he actually thinks Sylvanas is his girlfriend. ‘Snip’ No, Steve, you don’t get to write Sylvanas anymore, you get to write Rok’han and Baine.
It is painfully obvious that some people really do favour their pet NPC’s at times, and the game shamefully caters to that mentality. They shouldn’t. If I wrote for Blizz, I should not be allowed to write for Lor’themar Theron or Gelbin Mekkatorque, because they are two of my favourite characters.
Now I know some people might argue “but surely they -care- about those NPC’s and are deeply invested in their lore, so they are the natural person to write the plot around those characters?”
Nope.
It’s a job. I don’t particularly like Tyrande, Malfurion or Mayla Highmountain ( What is she for, she’s so wishy washy?) but if I was being paid a considerable wage, I would do my damnedest to bone up on Tyrande, Malfurion and Mayla and to integrate interesting storylines for them, bearing in mind their previous lore.
Because it would be my job.
This has never been more evident than now. For ages people have been going “Surely they’re not setting up Sylvanas as a Kerrigan figure? I mean ripping off a concept from another source is one thing, but ripping off a concept from your own games is another, surely they wouldn’t?”
Steve Danuser gets control of his Waifu and suddenly…
Kerrigan 2.0.
Good writers should be able to separate themselves, from their favourites. Bad writers will always care only about their favourites.
Danuser is more interested in writing crappy Tumblr fan fiction for they/them people.
This is simple.
In transition from War 3 to WOW Azeroth was reimagined to fit 2-factions gameplay.
Initially it was a small dot of mold, but years later it covered the whole structure and now you have to torch…
Torch the A&H, meaning completely disband them. And hire a team of god-level logicians to reboot and redo via timetravel, flashbacks etc.
Dont know, if Blizzard has this kind of time left.
I don’t know, for me the Helm kept its cool feeling and meaning with it, when Bolvar was wearing it, cause It was still controling the undead, and it was symbolizing the burden that “There must always be a Lich King”.
What will the undead do now on Azeroth, without the “mastermind” conrtoling it ?
Beneath the Earth in Northrend there are still millions on undead beasts, scourge, and also the Nerubians who became undead, What will happen with this huge undead hordes/“army”?
When it was snapped into pieces, it still meant something, like remnants of power, like how it was still presenting some thing like Narsil in The Lord of the Rings,
The sword was still reforged into an iconic weapon which Aragon was wielding in the third age.
So the helm I think, even in pieces was meaningful, and powerful because of what it was representing in the lore.
And I think there are lot of people, or players who still who could come up with better ideas for the story and the lore.
About the petition, I think they can just replace them or put them into other positions, like for world quests or side quests, its okey
And maybe Blizz will not react, but our Voice will be heard, and maybe it will not cause immediate change, but can start something towards better writing.
We can start involve streamers, youtubers, like there are a lot of ways getting sighing a petition/gathering people, and I think a lot of them are “pissed of” cause of the “nonsense” what they did with the lore.
We have the power, we just need to seize it.
I understand your point, but
Have you noticed the World Quests this expansion? How much worse do you want them to get? How much worse CAN they get?
And as for side quests, there are usually some interesting characters among them in previous expansions, characters that make you connected to the zones. Good luck finding them now.
No, send them to the art department. They are so overstaffed already they can bury a bit more headcount.
