Store mounts are GOOD!

Not much to say about this except, without people with expendable money buying in-game purchases, I’m afraid WoW would most likely be bankrupt. If people want to spend money on in-game content that doesn’t affect the game play itself and it further supports blizzard in making content, what’s the beef?

Edit: By bankrupt, i mean the game will entire a condition of maintenance, patches will slow down more, content will be worse, less money means less content

Very unlikely. Mmo can run with really low player bases. Specially a subscription based one.

Also we don’t know how big the share of shop mounts compared to expansion / sub money is.

But else you are right. The 30% more developer need to be paid somehow , and shop mounts will probably take care of that

And the award for most controversial topic goes to…

I don’t actually have a problem with them. Considering there’s hundreds in game to unlock, and store mounts don’t make you go any faster, I really don’t understand the hate.

I personally do not care if there are store mounts, toys, and pets for sale. It is a person’s money and they have a right to buy what they want to buy.

I think the argument is that some cannot afford to put cash into the game or buy a mount and would rather work for it via raiding, dungeons, or some type of achievement or buy it via gold.

A game like World of Warcraft make plenty of money from the 60$ they charge every 2 years, and the 12.99$ they charge monthly. The only one benefiting for store mounts, pets and toys are the higher ups patting their pockets.

Obvious troll is troll.

Well, yeah. OP is pretty naive to think the developers are going to get some kind of “bonus” from the purchases of these mounts. These mounts are always sold to show the shareholders some positive sales figures every quarter of a year.

I buy the store mounts with cash (not in game tokens), got all of them except the newest one which I’ll probably buy tomorrow. Bought some other stuff from the shop like helms, etc etc. These are optional purchases and people do get het up about them unnecessarily. It allows people who are not part of the top 1% raiding guilds on their server to get good looking mounts too.

These purchases support the game and are entirely optional.

This is again a very misinformed assumption. If you actually think that by buying a store mount you’ll see some of the money spent invested back into the game, you’re utterly mistaken. Your money is going to the shareholders and investors.

The store mounts require precious little resources to create and they are released to make a good buck because whales will dish out the cash no matter what.

Activision Blizzard reports record earnings, and have been consistently for almost a decade.

The CEO Bobby Kotick has a networth of 7 billion USD.

Blizzard CFO joined with a hiring bonus of 15 million USD.

They officially funnel money into subsidiaries and shell companies to avoid paying taxes.

People like you are the beef, the people that buy micro-transactions in a full price AAA game that additionally has a monthly subscription.

WoW and Activision Blizzard would still earn hundreds of millions without store mounts, monthly subscriptions and micro-transactions. That’s a fact.

It’s called ethics and standards, gamers these days don’t have any.

R u srs?

This xpac the only mounts which are only obtainable by the top 1% are the mythic Jaina, mechagon hardmode and glad mounts and ALL of those are reskins/recolours.

The best mounts are litearlly available to everyone no matter their skilllvl.

At the end of the day it’s up to each person to do what they want with their money.
If they deemed it worth the investment into getting X store mount - all the power to them.
Those that judge others for such purchases, I would rather call Asmondumbs.
Why? The money ain’t yours, therefore anything you think/say is irrelevant. Deal with it.

Sub games + cash shop content = bad business.
What’s next? New races in cash shop. ( they purposely make it difficult to grind and release them on cash shop)
The goodwill is broken, Players feel cheated and money is what they care…
I am expecting, cash shop in classic as well. Currently, Teso is also filled with cash shop items and they make it compulsory to purchase them. Also, sub as well. ( their game is still having performances issues and lag spikes xD. Also, mounts are in cash shop micro-transations rng only. The lame horses are in game with the new raid of a sun cat lol)
It’s only, ffxiv arr that’s doing well in terms of building up goodwill, players and revenue by doing these methods to atmost minimum and delivering content and mounts in game rewards.

The way i see it, its completely optional. If you don’t like em , don’ buy em. There are plenty of mounts to be earned ingame.

do you have anything else worth spending 300k gold in game ?

because i dont just like many other people who will just buy it with gold.

(that said i wont buy it since i already bought 15 years limited edition with raggy statue  and mounts will come from there )

its called being poor and cannot afford it thus being jealous that other people can

people in west nowadays have a lot (and i mean a lot ) of disposable income - for example i dont smoke , i drink very ocasianaly (2-3 bottles o good whisky a year + beer once every 2-4 weeks depends on occasion and even then its usually 1-2 bottles max) , i dont gamble , i dont overspend money on cars and clothes , i dont spend a lot of money on snacks etc because i keep diet and have a lot of $$$$ which i dont mind spending on nice stuff that i like visualy

who are you to judge how people spend their money ?

$10 billion since 2018 in revenue BTW according to wikepedia

If you have a revenue like that from an MMO and are going bankrupt youre messing something up really bad
Theyre probably not in any financial distress but we live in Times of rabid investors who want more more more more profit (in general)

Edit;
Buying store mounts affects the game in the way that it gives devs a reason to create premium content that youre not allowed to access while first adding a one time per mount sum of cash to the monthly fee you already pay for
The more you buy the more they’ll post

It gives then a reason to put up ingame content (storemounts van be used in game so theyre ingame content) behind a paywall on a monthly sub fee game

That would only apply IF and only IF the “cash shop content”(which can be bought via gold, mind you. You people always tend to forget that, when it suits you that is) does in fact affect your gameplay and just your feelings your immersion. You people seems to lack the ability to differentiate between those.

It can only be bought with gold because someone else paid for a token
The Middle man getting gold for it doesn’t change any of the issues raised with this
