I’m just wondering if there is a decent way to gain more storm Dust grade 3. I am doing enchanting and not even in it for the money, more to enchant my own gear on my 2 main chars. The problem i see is the price of Storm dust at grade 3. Its cheaper to buy the enchant of the Ah than it is to buy the storm dust on its own, The other mats are pretty fair to come by, but the grade 3 storm dust just seem to hard to come by.
If anyone has some decent info on what im doing wrong. Also all my tools are grade 5 and 100skill
Delving into Shattered, using shattered buff, and Disenchanter specialisations goes a long way into acquiring them… just the issue of you needing to catch up on Knowledge Points.
Lucky for you, catching up as an enchanter is VERY easy!
After doing all your weekly sources for it [Quest, chests, and DE’ing till you get the Epic KP item] disenchanting anything has a chance of giving you Shimmering dust where DE’ing epics is a 100% chance of. Each dust is +1 KP, and you can easily be swimming in epic gear to disenchant off from a multitude of sources.

To add to that, I’d point to Siren Isle as a good way to acquire throwaway epic gear to disenchant. It can be a little tedious but especially after unlocking flying there you can dart around and go underwater to open up the chests. There’s a lot of them beneath the water and some will inevitably drop epic BoE gear to disenchant.
You don’t do your own enchants with R3 mats. There are two things you need to do talent-wise: max out the particular enchants you want for a skill boost and put as many points as you can in Supplementary Shattering to improve your buff. That way, you can use a mix of lower mats with a big chunk of concentration to make your R3 enchants.
Unfortunately, I haven’t found a guaranteed way to get R3 mats from disenchanting. I have maxed skill (minus the racial), fully talented Supplementary Shattering and Designated Disenchanter, along with maxed and enchanted equipment, and I still get a mix of ranks from both disenchanting and shattering shards.
