Stormscale bad realm for guild experience?

Hello,

I don’t mean to offend anyone with this post, just please give me an honest answer to what I am wondering about.

I am the type of a player who was never much of a guild guy. Started playing the game 6 years ago on horde Draenor realm and most of the time played alone. Couple of months ago I decided to join a guild simply because I wanted to collect the mounts from the guild vendor and…

I was surprised how the people in the guild were actually really nice. It was quite a large guild, 20+ people online all the time and no matter what I wrote in the chat or I needed help someone noticed it and responded. I even got invited to a mythic Jaina run as a non-raider and got the mount on the first try and that is something I will never forget. The guild was called Gordian Knot by the way, go check them out.

Anyway fast forward to SL, after I saw the server was not getting any better lag/queue wise after two weeks I made the big decision and took the free realm transfer and moved all my 12 characters to Stormscale which seemed like it has just the right amount of players not to be completely empty and at the same time not to be in the queue to log in for 2 hours after every work day.

Now after a week or so I am questioning my decision from the social experience point of view. I joined a guild that seemed to have similar mentality and size as Gordian Knot but I have honestly never seen so many unsocial and ignorant people in one place in my entire life. No responses on any help request, nobody reactes to mounts or achievs you get, you are literally nobody for those people… Basically just zero f**ks with a tryhard mentality.

Now please take this part as a personal view but… I tried to look at similarly sized guilds to Knot on Wowprogress and the names are just ridiculous. It feels like 90% of the guilds are made by 12 year olds with either no imagination (twitch meme puns) or too much imagination (ominous latin words). Also when I search for online members in most of the guilds they always have like 1-2 people online which is really unfortunate.

I tried looking at the forums and all I see is Draenor refugees desperately looking for a chill social guild and nobody ever answers them. I understand Stormscale used to be a PvP server while Draenor a PvE one and I know the sizes of the realms are considerably different but is there even such a nice big guild that will help you and care for you when you need it on Stormscale?

I REPEAT, not trying to offend anyone. If Stormscale has been your home for quite some time good for you, I am just looking at it from the point of view of someone new.

Thanks for reading and logical answers

My condolences.

I’ve been on Stormscale since vanilla and can say that the sever used to be pretty great. Both for PvP and PvE. But some time around WoD or maybe even late MoP, the server became kinda… terrible. Although some would say it happend ~late Cata.

sorry to hear that but are you sure you just havent found the right guild yet? finding the right guild for yourself is quite tricky imo and takes a long time.

i play on a low pop realm and our guild doesnt have 20 people at all times but maybe…5-10 maybe 15 at peak times? you are not ignored there and we run m+ and start raiding in january. i guess you can find good guilds almost everywhere no matter the realm you are on, you just have to find them.

joining a guild like Gordian Knot sounds like a lucky shot for most people tbh.

i d say dont be discouraged, i know quite a few really nice people on stormscale, so they are most definitely out there, you just have to look for them.

good luck!
