I have a strange problem when I use my keyboard to direct my character.
When I use the up arrow then it happens often that the left or right arrow doesn’t respond. And when I try to walk or fly in a circle, it works for 5 seconds and then I go straight again. I also noticed that steering when I walk backwards isn’t possible! Everything in Classic works fine! I have already changed the keyboard. Sometimes I get disconnected when trying several times after eachother. When I use my mouse to steer then everything works fine. Already installed wow all over again. Is there maybe some kind of keyboard buffer which gets full? I tried to change the keyboard settings, but nothing worded so far!
I just tested something! If I program my mouse buttons to go forward and right, and I press those 2 buttons together, then I have the same problem! It works 5 seconds and then I go straight again. So it can’t be the keyboard either!

This sounds like a strange issue indeed!
Do you have any other software running that potentially could be interfering? It’s possible that another application is seeing this key combination as a shortcut perhaps?
I’d certainly recommend closing any software that has overlays for example, as we’ve seen these can cause problems with WOW from time to time.
What keyboard are you using?
I’m using a logitech k120 keyboard, but when I use a ps/2 keyboard I have the same problem. My mouse is a logitech G300s. I have tried without a mouse connected, but same result. When I program the arrow keys to go forward and go strafe left instead of turn left, then it works fine.
I thought I was going mad, but I’ve also noticed this. It’s only ever for a moment for me. I do not have overlays running, I’m very particular about pruning any process that could interfere with my game. Everything in start up is pared back to essentials and my game is always launched off a shortcut that gives it priority and administrator access.
