Strange DC (Chat works fine - Spells / Interactions / etc. NOT)

Greetings!

I would like to ask some help because I have a very annoying problem for a while. It’s totally breaking my gaming experience. It’s important that it’s ONLY happening in World of Warcraft RETAIL and CLASSIC. Every other game is totally working fine.

So the problem is just what the title says. When I starting to game I just realize a disconnect after 5-10-15 mins, it’s totally random. There is 2 variations:

  • Out of combat: Everything is stop working (Spells / All items / Loading NPCs / etc.) | But chat is totally working fine.
  • In combat: Get a full DC, it’s dropping me out to the login screen.

Okay I press ALT + F4 and coming back. After an other 5-10-15 mins the exact same thing happen. After 3-4-5-6 DC (it’s totally random too), it’s just fixing, and I can play for hours without any problem.

If I make some hours break or just go to sleep, work etc. after I coming back everything is starting again. Getting many disconnects and after a few it’s getting fixed again.

It’s really making hard to do anything in this game. Just can’t risk M+ / Raid etc. with it. Very annoying. I would be really really grateful if somebody could help me in this problem.

(I’m 90% sure that my internet is working fine, because never ever had a problem with it any game or in anything. I live in Hungary, and it has one of the greatest internet connection in Europe. So probably it’s nothing internet related.)

I experienced same issue few times. Mostly during combat. Had another one too. Game frezee for me, i cant attack or heal, and after the combat is over, i get fastforward the fight i missrd. I see everyones spells, attacks, movement in like x10 speed ratio. Thats strange :stuck_out_tongue:

I believe that this indicates a connection problem between you and the server. Chat probably still works because the protocol used for chat requires less overhead than the protocol used to control the game.

Its not exactly the same. If I get that disconnect the game never coming back until I relog.

Same issue, I have tried everything. It has been going on for over a week.

It’s far more for me  2-3 Months. So it won’t be resolved probably by doing nothing. We need a solution. I 'm talking to you Blizzard. There is about a hundred topics with that problem and ZERO solution. There is people who formatted their whole SSD and reinstalled everything from zero and the same thing happening.

For me it actually appeared after I bought an SSD and installed fresh windows on it with the game, I have now tried installing the battlenet and wow on a HDD and the problem with the world packet loss seems to have disappeared. Maybe if you have an HDD give it a try.

If it starts happening again I will let you know.

The problem is that not a solution. It’s just change 1 bad thing to an other one. Disconnects are more better than waiting 10 mins on loading screen.

Yeah, you’re def right, but as an update, I have been playing wow classic all day yesterday since I installed it on a Hard Drive and I never got disconnected.

Hello Dexti!

First uninstall (or ensure they are not running at all) any third party programs that interact with the game, such as addon updaters, tradeskill master, and similar.

Re-test. If problems persist:

  • Please close the game and go to the World of Warcraft page on the Blizzard app. Press Options, Scan and Repair.
  • On the Blizzard app. Press Options, Show in Explorer.
  • Open the open the retail folder, and rename the WTF, Cache, and Interface folders to WTF_old, Cache_old, and Interface_old.

Re-test. If problems persist:

Please upload your msinfo to something like google drive or https://pastebin.com/ and link here.

If you’re not comfortable doing this please make a ticket at : https://eu.battle.net/support/en/help/contact/164/ticket

I’m having an issue for the past week with WoW Classic, the ping is very unstable and every ~5min everyone just freezes around me (The chat works fine). The only thing I can do is ALT+F4 and restart the game to fix it for another ~5min.

Other games / applications work fine.

I have tried every possible solution that I have found on the forums, like flushing dns, checking all drivers, reinstalling WoW etc… but nothing seems to work.
My internet service provider ( True Internet ) said they rebooted my connection, but that didnt help either, the internet speed is 1000down/200up.

If anyone is having the same issue, or found a solution please respond.

Already being discussed.

Thank you for your answer. I did every steps and none of them solved the problem.

I can’t attach link for my MSInfo because I have no trust level on the forum. What to do?
