Struggling to find a suitable RP guild

I’ve recently made a Blood Elf Paladin on Argent Dawn to learn how to RP and make friends. Sadly however I am having trouble finding a suitable guild. I only see raid guilds post in trade (when it is not filled with the usual toxic trade trolls that plague this game). I have looked on the Argent Archives also but have not had any luck there. I’m finding it hard to find active guilds that aren’t military based or onces which don’t say they look for people with RP experience.

I’m a brand new RP’er and am focusing on leveling my character right now, but would still like to try find a home. I’m more interested in a multiracial guild that is more like a band of adventurers or travelling merchants or such. I’m not particularly interested in military roleplay or being bound to only one location. I’d much prefer to go out on an adventure!

I’d say you’ll have more luck making similar thread on the Argent Dawn realm forums than there on the Roleplaying ones. A guild fitting your description could potentially reach out to you in search for recruits!

I have one there already but it does not seem to bring any interest. I don’t want to make a new thread as I only posted my other one a day or two ago.

That’s the closest I can find on the forums, though I’ve been told IG of Blood Howl that may fit (I don’t know them personally, either of them). It’s not much but it’s a start.

Alliance there’s several, entire communities dedicated to it by the looks of things.

Ok, thanks for the pointer!

Yeah I see Alliance is more popular here, but Horde is my preference if I’m honest.

Hope it helps. Curious you’ve seemingly found RP guilds that don’t accept new RPers, that’s very unusual in my experience. Most are very open to new RPers because RP needs people for it to work so for all it’s internal squabbling it tends to be a very open and accessible hobby.

I’ve found some that would like people with some RP experience (of which I have none) so they can do their events etc. smoothly. I can understand it coming from a raiding point of view.

Two I can recommend as Blood Elf only and Quality RP are the Sun Hawks (Aerial Dragonhawk combat, all Classes) - Speak to Brigante, Yasmyr or Narmë(? Not certain on spelling), and Division 22 (Blood Elf / Blood Knight Role Play, not certain if they take other classes) - afraid I can’t remember recruiters names but a quick /who should sort you out.

Admittedly both are military types but have strong social sides. I know very very little of social RP guilds myself.

Good luck!

Thanks for the suggestions. I am aware of the Sun Hawks as Brigante has been very helpful with setting up my first RP character. Their RP theme though is not what I’m looking for.

I’m not aware of Division 22 but I do wish to stay away from such set structured military RP. In a game such as WoW, to be stuck to just Silvermoon and Eversong would be a shame.

You finally are able to post with Zarinel! That’s great.

Yep! The website finally decided she (and several of my other characters) actually exist! She is however still alone in the world, with only Francois for company.

Division I believe spend portions of time out in the world on campaigns.

If strictly military isn’t your thing, perhaps enquiring as to being support staff might be of interest? (Everything from cooks, medics and stable hands) this might get you out and about, provide sociable “camp RP” out in the world, without the uniforms / orders etc that come with the military trappings. I hope you find something that suits you!

Edit: There is also a RP discord group on Argent Dawn which may be able to help.

Whilst I’m no longer / very rarely horde these days, I am happy to offer advice, feel free to add me Mattian#2500

Edit2: do check out Guide to roleplay for newcomers a very thorough guide and good grounding if you’ve not seen it already.

Thanks for the further help. I added your Btag as I am always open to friends.

I did consider Alliance as I know it is more popular (though I was not sure how many of the popularity are non-rp’ers). If there is a guild which would suit me or more people to rp with then I’m happy to consider changing. I wouldn’t mind a night elf druid (though I have no idea how to roleplay one).

Having read your AD thread (I didn’t actually see it before, got drowned out by the forums notification system) - the Sisterhood may be worth looking into - though I’m sceptical if you’d get in on a Paladin, but you never know.

We’re more or less neutral (indeed our last major contract I believe we were actually working for an Alliance character) and our contracts do take as elsewhere though we DO spend long stretches in Ogrimmar, mostly because that’s where everybody and their contracts are.

We’re mostly amoral but socially inclined mercs/thugs, largely player driven (all contracts are from player characters).

If nothing else works out, might be worth a poke.

Thanks for the suggestion. I have seen the guild you’re in but I wasn’t sure if my character would fit (outside the fact she’s a paladin).

Not sure if this was the question you were wanting to ask last night, I was a bit busy scrapping with Alliance at the time, but essentially the advice above is solid. It is by the way Division 23, not 22, should you change your mind on that. Horde tends to be more military, purely because that is the nature of the society, As such you get more military type guilds than not. -but- Because the Horde has a different ethos to War than the Alliance, ‘Military’ is a relative term.
I’d try to explain, but in honesty I’d just say “Remember how the two armies looked in the BfA Cinematic?”

Horde Militaries tend to be much looser, less ‘regimented’. There are exceptions, sure, the Forsaken and Blood Elves seem to be pretty on-point with their organisation, but ultimately most Horde Military units seem to be a ‘Warband’ and not a ‘Platoon’ or ‘Squad’.

Leaving aside Military, there are Cross Racial Guilds on AD that kind of work like what you are looking for, Jagged Spear was already mentioned, I would add the Frozen Paw Clan to that. Despite the name they are not Orc only, they take all Horde races as far as I know. I know they definitely take Blood Elves, and they seem to be…not so much a ‘military’ as a ‘self supportive group which fights when it needs to’

Unfortunately the really good advice I could have given, is not available to you until you hit level 60 I believe. There is a massive RpPvP campaign going on in Howling Fjord. Now whilst sign ups are closed, this doesn’t prevent individual people from getting involved in the Camp RP going on, of which there is loads, and is an extremely good way to get to know everyone and see Guilds and think “Ooh, I like the look of them” Your character is a Paladin? Perhaps they can heal? Awesome, the Infirmary can use you!

Basically its a good way of getting to see the various guilds in action, seeing what grabs your fancy, and even if none of them do, of making contacts for future RP when you encounter them again. If you Can, Smack that character up to level 60 and hit New Agammand in Howling Fjord, I think the Campaign is on for another week now, so you might make it in time.

Thanks for the further help. Yes this is what I was planning on asking. I have found such a guild though on the Alliance side who has offered to help me learn so I may be switching factions. I prefer Horde but friends > faction.

What I’m noticing is that in the Alliance one has a lot easier time finding RP. Be it the suitable guild for you, or just random walkup RP. If you want to just jump in with little effort, whenever you have the time, Alliance is for you. But it is with the risk of finding… shall we say not always acceptable or good quality RP.

I’m mostly doing Alliance only because I’m always either busy or tired, and don’t have to bother too much with finding RP.

I hardly ever (if ever have) used the forums but was directed here by a friend to your post! It can be hard finding an RP guild that’s accommodating to new players and fits what you want.

I’m an officer in the Gilded Blades, and we’re not a military guild. We currently choose the epithet ‘rag tag mercenaries’ - so we’re not regimented at all, really, except for the times when it counts. Most of our roster falls under wayward souls, swashbuckling adventurers or just people who wanted a change of scenery - it’s entirely up to you! Our adventures locations take us all over Azeroth, though we’re based in Booty Bay - it’s a pretty nice small RP hub where we find that we get to meet some incredibly interesting characters.

But more importantly we’re super into helping new RPers find their feet, we were all there once. We accept at any level so long as you promise activity and we’ll be sure to fight off mobs if we happen to go somewhere for an event that means you’re going to be the worlds’ biggest target!

Feel free to add me on Bnet as moonbrow#21550. If you ever feel like giving Horde another try the Blades will be happy to have you!

I still prefer Cake.

Also belated Welcome! Hope you find what you’re looking for!
