Stuck in Stormwind at level nine

So I’ve come back to the game for the new Chromie Time experience and level squish. I’ve done Exiles’ Reach and now I’m in Stormwind.

The next quest requires me to learn the riding skill. I am level nine and cannot do this until I am level 10. I cannot leave Stormwind to kill anything to get experience because that will end the tutorial. Is this. . . common? Any advice? What can I do?

I haven’t heard about this.
Aside from that, the tutorial is basically done after you get a mount. the standard BFA story starts after that. Which should be able to be picked up at the guard near notice board in the trade district (at lvl 10+)
It’s called “the tides of war” or something like that.

As for the mount. You should be able to get the skill at lvl 10 by visiting the stables as you normally always would. The dwarf near the sw flight path is also an option

Something has gone wrong as when you co.plete exiles reach and hand in the final quest you should ding level 10 if you hadn’t already managed it.

You could grab fishing and cooking and do the daily quests there. I dont know if they have a level requirement. Any any other side quest which might get you to level 10.

Well I can leave Stormwind but it says “If you continue you will be removed from the tutorial” and I don’t want to miss anything. If that’s the end of it though I guess it’s no huge loss.

I tried it in PTR and have to say i was really disappointed in it. I dont think you’ll miss much, if anything. There’s YouTube videos I suppose.

Seems like blizzard didn’t test the pre-patch before releasing.

Someone has shown me a rat to farm. It’ll get me there.

abandon the quest, leave stormwind, it will ask if you wish to abandon the tutorial, click yes, go find chromie near the alliance Embassy (where all the allied race flags are)

A friend of mine had this same issue! It seems they missed something/a quest in exiles reach which is kind of off the path and unless you know its there you won’t know to go do it.

Really big oversight imo for a new player zone. There should he a tool tip to tell players there is a random, non story quest available near them or put the quest marker nearer the path.

You can go outside of sw and grind the remaining exp. Just make sure that you don’t click anything in the popup window.

That said this is a huge oversight and definetly needs addressing.

I would just run into the forest and kill some NPCs until level 10 if you’re able to

You aren’t missing much from the tutorial in the city’s tbh
The learn to ride quest is only really worth it for two reasons.
You don’t have the racial mount, or you want the 25silver lol.

It goes take quest, talk to guard, go to stable. Hand in, learn riding skill, hand in for mount. Ether learn mount or sell mount.

After that, you learn about hearthstones and inns.
Make your home to get a hearthstone.
Get told to visit ether the king, or the war chief.
Speak to the person in charge, optional speak to the leader who helped you in exiles reach.
Get punted into BFA.

You can exit the tutorial at any time, and still get riding skill at 10, a hearthstone from any innkeeper.
But, you cannot do fishing or cooking quests even if you have the skill.
And portals are disabled till lvl 10.
I found that out with a fair few of my older alts going down to 9, I had to pick flowers on herbing alts to ding, and one who had no trade skills but fishing and cooking saw the dailys were grayed out.

Sadly it seems if you skip/miss any quests you do not meet the requirement to do the quest when you reach Stormwind/Orgrimmar. Can I suggest you use the ingame bug report system to explain that you can leave exile’s reach without sufficient XP to bring you to level 10. You can also do a feedback form in game too.

This is the second such account I’ve read of this happening and whilst I thought it would be a one off, they either need to stop letting people leave the island with insufficient levels or make up for any missing XP when you depart the island.

Aren’t the wine ticket quest and the tailor quests available? Those should net you enough xp to level up.
As for what you might’ve missed - a couple of rates and chests, the lightspawn quest and the elite bear quest.
