Its getting old real fast, also had this problem a couple days ago. Welp time for sleep i guess.
I tried deleting the cache folder, but what happened is a great pain befell my heart, one that I have not felt since the days my brethren were slain, naw, culledā¦ in my hometown of Stratholme.
That great pain was of course the retention of the message of blackest doom, invoking at once all the ire of years to come: retrieving character list.

I should have checked the forums first to see if others are impacted, but initially thinking itās just me Iāve tried everything to resolve it on my end up to and including a fresh install.

Argent Dawn server has been down for hours now ever since today`s server maintenance, whats going on blizzard?

yup same here, Have been trying to log on argent dawn ever since the server maintenance finished and still the same issue. its been 4 hours now without an official response from blizzard, i even tweeted BlizzardCSEU_EN and nothing.
Nobody plays that game tho. Would be nice if they could manage to get our WoW Character Lists up again. (Number of Characters is visible on the realms Iām on in the realm selection menu, so I reckon the characters are still there). But whoever did maintenace forgot to switch auth servers back on. xD
But alas, this maintenance should have never happened, I was just decorating my house when I got cut off at 2.59 am. No 15 min prior warning whatsoever for me.
you need to delete wow folder. I can show you how to do it.
Bump because weāre still missing that character list.
We need your help.
We also need to wake up with a smile on Christmas Day, which is looking less likely the longer we are missing the character list.

The maintenance was clearly to push this bs, which was announced around the same time at the Game Awards in the US:

Maybe I shouldnāt have used that open book on the piano in my house.
Maybe THAT was the Character List.
So now it is not retrievable anymore until I can log back on again. 
I too have this problem.
