Stutter makes the game unplayable

Ever since 9.1 or shadowlands overall came out, i come into the issue of absurdly long and often stutter in the game. Usually it’s after i play for a bit. I have done a lot to fix this, i even play on settings lower than the game recommends - any tips on solving it?

My PC specs:
12 Gigs of ram
Intel i5-2400 4 core processor 3.10 GHz
NVIDIA GeForce GT 1030, 2 GBs
And the game itself is installed on an SSD drive. Thanks!

Your computer is below the minimum system requirements though of course I am not sure if that is the cause for your stutter. If it usually starts to happen after playing for while overheating might be one cause.

I can see that since it’s hot af in my country. The bad pc stuff i consider absolute baloni, i can’t believe a game like this won’t run on my pc - even though it reccomends medium-high settings.

Thanks for the fast reply.

CPU should be ok as there wasn’t that much performance increase between Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge. GPU is likely culprit as the one you have is not really meant for gaming and even though it is considerably newer than the min. requirement GPU it is still quite bit slower than it.

But chcking for temperatures is easy enough to rule that particular problem out so I’d start from there.

I truly sympathise with Khazmondir as I too have issues with the ever-increasing hardware demands of the game.

The GTX 1030 is well above the quoted minimum hardware spec Nvidia GTX 760. This card is grossly underpowered, so why they quote it as a minimum spec is beyond me.

The recommended GPU is Nvidia GTX 1080 8GB, which was first introduced 5 years ago and is outdated technology and virtually unobtainable.

I, too, am looking for a GPU upgrade and having discussed this with my usual supplier, they recommend the cheapest Nvidia option which they can currently obtain stock of is the GTX 1660, priced at £360. The cheapest card with 8GB RAM is the RTX 3060 Ti costing £740.

Both of these GPU’s are way out of my reach financially, times are tough.

Having reached a point where the game is becoming unplayable, I am sadly on the verge of quitting.

GT-series are low-power and usually fanless cards not really meant for very demanding games. GT 1030 is about equal to GTX 750 Ti which is again quite bit slower than 760 in most games although there aren’t many, if any, direct benchmarks.

Nvidia also at some point changed the memory of GT1030 to DDR4 (!) from GDDR5 which basically destroyed it’s performance but I doubt this is the issue here as the OP’s issues started with Shadowlands.

As for GPU prices, I’d recommend keeping eye out for used cards. Personally I am sticking with GTX 970 for time being as it gives solid FPS in WoW and other games I am playing.

Update; The game has been acting strangely lately, especially after i played other games - literally played Valheim with my friend for entire days, then i logged into wow - perfect 60 fps and it stayed that way for the rest of the day. As for temperature, both gpu usage and temperature were fine - usage didin’t exceed 60% when playing WoW. The GPU is always around 34 celsius degrees.

Dunno, i will probably get a second-hand card soon. It’s 4 gigs so i should be fine, thanks for the help!

I got same problem, my GPU is in requirements, it’s GTX 1650s , i got that problem from yesterday. Few days ago i had 80+ fps , and now i got a lot of stutter. Game is unplayable for me.
