Stutter when a new appearance gets added on fresh installed client

Hello all,

As of late, I have noticed an increase in random stuttering.
Now, stuttering happens to me quite often in the game - like opening busy guild chat tab for the first time upon login, or opening all bags, etc… - and I got quite used to it.

What caught my eye is that I also get stutters when an appearance is being added. This tends to happen on live, but happens even more so on Cata Classic.

I want to emphasize that I’ve just reinstalled WoW, & Cata Classic - making sure no leftover files were behind - on my main M.2 SSD. I also want to emphasize that the appearance added stutter, like on Classic, is occurring with no addons running.

Other notable specs:

  • AMD Ryzen 5 5600x (drivers updated today)
  • Nvidia RTX 3070Ti (got the latest driver, with DDU prior to update)
  • 32GB RAM
  • As stated earlier, M.2 SSD where WoW is installed.

The PC is currently almost 3 years on, besides regular dust cleaning I have not replaced anything yet.

If additional information is needed, I’ll do my best to provide.

It’s normal for WoWs UI jank to pause the 3D rendering momentarily. It’s just how it is. Your PC and game is not broken.

I get that, it’s just weird that some players don’t have it. Could it also have to do with the combo of my setup and win11? Maybe an absurd question but I’ve had more problems with win11 before, luckily resolved thanks to AMD fixing it. (ie. fTPM in late '22)

They just don’t notice these small hiccups or their brain accepts it and moves on. It’s like the people who think 30fps is a smooth frame rate.

This pausing has actually gotten worse over time. Probably some slow interactions within Blizzards lua code and their creaking achievement/collections system.

It should NEVER affect the 3D rendering, the fact that it does is kinda terrible.
