May it be that the shader cache is still preferring disk over RAM?
I’m running a
1440P 144HZ Monitor with G-sync thought that might be the issue but nope.
Have Win11, 32GB DDR5 Memory, I7 13700K , RTX 4080 Card, 980 Pro M2 SSD with latest drivers.
Only this game has stutters in it any other game cyberpunk 2077, ffxiv etc non have issues.
I also encounter this same stuttering issue in DF Beta on my old system which was a Windows10, I7 9700K, 32GB DDR4, 980Pro M2 SSD, 1080TI
and considering the posts regarding the issue on EU and the NA massive post regarding stutters it must be down to the engine that is the issue.
I think rather that there is a memory leak and memory keeps filling up not releasing eventually leading to system freezes as well as stuttering as ram gets more full over time, there are reports of memory leaks some saying it only effects dx11 and dx11 legacy but there also reports of people saying it effects dx12 im not seeing proof of memory leaks but i have system freezes and memory leaks can cause system to freeze.
I am getting full freezes every 10s for a duration of about 3s after a few dungeon runs. It’s unplayable, have really tried everything.
They dropped the ball on something and it’s memory, mem leak or GPU related.
While is frozen my GPU is 0% so a full pause in the computer like contention for resources or massive paging or something.
If got short freezes but if also got freezes that permanently freeze the system, if i am lucky i get a tdr and recovery i just been playing other games now even letting heaven benchmark loop no problem play wow and multiple times in 2 hours get system freeze or tdr, i also see my gpu go from light to heavy load constantly this is not good for transients i have a 1200w titanium rated PSU top tier, anyway so far all the freezes are fully exclusive to wow, there lots of hints of memory leak but at same time im paranoid.
Why because every time i see some one having blackscreens with their amd GPU they usually have some samsung SSD or nvme, today i found a topic suggesting samsung magician is having a memory leak as well dating from August.
Which i ofcourse run i doubt its somehow related decided to just not run it in the background anymore at startup.
AMD is having huge problems with MPO making newer drivers unuseable unless its disabled, Nvidia having had these issues 2 years ago as well i guess AMD had it all this time as well and now starting to get worse, but despite that still getting freezes in wow only so far, altho if had wow sessions of 15 hours few times before no problem i still do not understand what is making my system freeze, there bassicly no clues at all.
Got a cheap memory kit to test with, cos if had memory issues in past but i won’t get errors at all even if i force ram in extreme conditions and above normal temps like 60 range it just passes everything.
can someone do me a favour, I have turned off anti aliasing in the game menu, and it seems to have improved things, can someone that has the problem all the time try it also.
I’ve tried all sorts of combinations in the graphics settings menu, even turned everything off/low, same problems. I’ve tested so many prebuilds at my work with same issue. I know it’s the game, not our hardware/drivers.
Yes it helped but not fixed the longer it’s on the worse it gets definitely a memory leak of somekind
Garbage company and yet we PAY for this. Imagine if it was f2p LMAOO
i think there are stutters AND the memory leak, during work i tend to have wow open for many hours doing nothing and the difference is insane after quite some times i cant turn without actually lagging … not stuttering
So I have done some analysis
here is the images of memory usage on 16GB with wow on idle in oribos
its almost maxed out and then it will page which can cause the stutter even on ssd.
cant post links

wow is using way more than before and it creeps up over time especially in dungeons.
The requirement is 8GB which it won’t even fit in if you have an operating system running as well.
So for me I will be increasing to 32Gb I should not have to but I want to for other reasons.
Memory will arrive in a few days.
Do you by any chance have samsung ssd and run samsung magician in background this app appearntly has a memory leak as well i read somewhere if never seen any proof of memory leak tho i always monitor my mem usage in windows on 2e display so if it freezes i usually see ram usage as well and its usually sitting at 50% of my ram i have 32 gb memory.
In my opinion it should be f2p already with multiple payed tiers based on how much you want.
This company fell off man, now they’re just plain lazy and give no shts about us. Take a look at the US forums about this stutter issue (1000+ comments, last customer support reply was over 30 days ago) , all they care about is income. We shouldn’t be treated like this because we actually PAY to PLAY the game. Sub time + expansion (for those who were brave enough to pay for the expansion even though its filled to the brim with issues)
Think i found cause of my system freezes its just the game 18 hours playing something else no freezes ever other then in wow, Btw if you have stutter AMD gpu’s going thru lots of insane issues right now including blackscreens and disabling MPO fixes this, MPO can also cause stutter and has caused issues with Nvidia drivers in the past as well.
Im 4 hour wow session this time usually i get freezes in 2 or 4 hour mark and back tracking my memory there where times i had certain addons disabled, so i think those addons may be the culprit of my freezes also set wow cpu priority to low, cous realtime cpu priority can cause something similar.
If for example cinebench is set to realtime and you do a bench it will freeze and make system unresponsive until its done benchmarking and can do that even for 10 minutes if duration is set to 10 minutes by default.
So it does not have to be a hardware issue, if been thinking all this time my hardware was faulty but its not its just the game and perhaps addons are the cause.
Seeing wow use 25% cpu usage sometimes which is quite high for a 5950x not that i mind but preferably without freezing the system.
I just got done leveling 53 characters to level 60 i suspect either elvui or my damage done addon is causing it.
I’ve tested WoW on all the systems without addons or overclocks. This is purely in the hands of Blizzard.
Just got system freeze again without addons something really wrong with the game they dont fix it i may as well ask for a full reufnd of 1 year subscription and expansion there is no point playing this game if it is the only game causing system freezes i let heaven benchmark run overnight no issues no problem
You should make your own thread. This one is related with the stutters in game not system freezes.
I’ve had this issue since prepatch, noticed it particularly in player oriented areas. when I go out into open world areas the stuttering stops. Oribos is terrible for it. I have tried;
Uninstalling/installing drivers
Exiting all software outside WoW
Disabling all addons
Lowest/highest graphical settings ingame.
/console GxAllowCachelessShaderMode 0
Running the game on an entire different PC
Capping/uncapping FPS
Reinstalling game on 2 different SSDs
And nothing. All the same results, stuttering prevails. As I said being in the open world with no other players around me; milky smooth. Add players=stutter galore.
Not happy that with mere days until Dragonflight, that this issue hasn’t been addressed by Blizzard seemingly at all. what, one response a month ago on the US forums? Silence since.
Yes it’s not looking good at all.
Wow is just deadlocking my entire system this is frustating i just did clean install back to windows 11 21h2 my entire system freezes permanently only happens in wow so far.
