I will start with a disclaimer, and point out that I may be playing this event wrong.
Having said that, iv been playing WoW for near 2 decades now. And honestly, iv seen some bad designs “cough” Rogue pvp, any xpac “cough”, and many horrible game modes and maps, BFA brings a lot of bad designs to mind.
But in an ocean of new and fresh that is SoD (For me anyways), the STV event is just horrendous. I am not writing out of rage, or salt, or anything similar. And I thank God that I only needed to do about 5-6 of these to get my wep. But this is such a disaster, there is no orientation of any kind, no focus point. And the debuff idea that just got implemented is just there to punish and annoy. You get nothing for killing people with it, in fact you lose resources.
On top losing coins, and what feels like a 15-20% loss when you die at times is just there to make sure you never come back. Why does this exist ? Is getting away from the GY point not annoying enough when 50 people are rezzing every few sec ? What is the design ? I really feel sorry for any class with out stealth. Because as soon as you rez, the dumb will you attack you, regardless of the debuff existing.
You are rewarded for sitting in stealth, and letting your team fight the enemy. Or ! Running towards a turn in point and ganking there. Because if you die ? No loss, you already turned in your coins.
The “Bosses” going around make no difference. Unless they ofc get stuck around res points, or turn in points. Then they again, just add to the annoyance of the event. And many times even when you kill people that have no debuff, you still dont get coins, and then you die, and lose. I do assume its a bug, but God damn does it feel bad.
The classes that get rewarded are the ones that can hit and run, so Boomies, Hunters, now even SPs with their high burst etc. Melee ? Well… “the night is dark and full of terrors”.
TLDR: No real design, no logic behind it. Does not feel tested what so ever. I really wish Blizzard sticks to just making PvE events like Ashennvale from now on. While it was not ideal, it was at least not annoying to the absolute core.
