So I thought I would roll something different for wotlk classic, and I have a sub rogue that is quite nicely geared out at 4k GS with pvp gear, I thought to myself I will try and learn some arenas.
I have some xp with enh shaman and warrior in retail from a few years ago, but boy, the skill required to play sub rogue compared to the other melee classes is an insane. With an enh shaman you smash your head on the keyboard and dps someone down, same as warrior or ret or DK for that matter, you really don’t have to think much up to a certain rating with those classes.
You are just so much squishier as a rogue it requires so much more practice, or maybe it’s just not a class for me & I’m too bad to play it.
I have played something like 350 2v2s just with randoms & all different comps, and I’m at 1.4k CR, which is really embarrassing. I have gotten significantly better and learnt to use all of my tools, but I definitely recognise that I am still bad, but at the same time when someone sees those stats they run and so getting semi-competent team mates is also a struggle.
There are very little resources for sub rogue arenas in the current state of wotlk, all I can find is videos from warmane and it is all just focused on duels.
Do you guys maybe have any tips for me to improve my game? I am leaning more towards just buying the wotlk upgrade & boosting an enh shaman and starting all over again, not sure if I have the skills to play sub rogue honestly.
TL;DR I suck at sub rogue, how can I improve or do I just boost a way easier class to play.
how much resilience are u running? u dont need alot as a rogue cuz u got alot of defensive cds evasion. vanish, cloak etc and CC. rogue is still a class you need to play very smartly or u are gonna get destroyed. dont waste your cds. so its also important u are playing with a partner who knows what they’re doing and can peel u.
rogue gets alot stronger later on because they wear primarily pve gear and use low resil. it just better suits their playstyle than high resilience.
I’ve been playing rogue since TBC the first time around. About 2300 originally WOTLK. I’m more casual these days because all my arena teammates have all quit and I’ve found it hard to get people who want to play for more than 1 evening these days.
That said, i’ve played Enhance on retail a fair bit, and rogue for a long time. If you genuinely want to know some tips then happy to help. I can’t help with general tips as everyone has different issues, rogue is generally lots of little things that add up to big-dick.
Number 1 rule though is never take a fair fight if you can avoid it. Every time you restealth you are 10x more potent that just stackign combo points in a 1v1
Rogues need to be mechanically perfect - dueling is a GREAT way to make decisions into muscle memory. I’ve won games against other rogues because i react faster - like they trinket and i land a second cheap-shot before the can blind (hard if they have a macro but still doable).
1 global and the fight is over - rogue is addictive because when you get it right, there is a moment of pure bliss as the peices all fall together and you win, and your opponent knows they couldn’t have done anything. This applies to RMP as well.
But it’s heart-breaking because 1 mistake and you die to a russian warrior with lower IQ than his pet dog.
