Sub Rogue; What weapons should I be using?

Do I have freedom to use whatever weapons I want now or should it always be two daggers? Abilities are no longer linked to what weapons you’re using which implies there is more freedom to use whatever you pick up. Is this wrong?

I have seen some sub rogues using an axe/mace/sword in their offhand. Should I just use whichever does more damage and has best stats?

so first you must always use a dagger in your mainhand because otherwise you can’t use some of your abilities.

in pve you almost always want to use a dagger in your offhand because it gives you more shadow techniques procs. i believe the napkin math is that it’s worth ~30 ilvls on the weapon, so theoretically a 1h could be better but the ilvl difference would have to be large.

in pvp the shadow techniques procs are not nearly as relevant, so some people are opting for the 1h because it has vers mastery rather than crit vers like the daggers. it’s kind of unclear which is better, and it’s kind of personal preference. either way it’s not a big deal, both are fine.

Thank you - that makes sense. So basically, unless the offhand is an amazingly good non-dagger, I should always try and dual wield daggers?

yup, that works well as a general rule.

Having a slow offhand weapon slows down your energy regen rating.

Yes, that’s what shadow techniques does.

The rogues with one hander are going to be optimizing for pvp, in general stats out value the energy and rng combo points in pvp because you dont sit on a target long enough to land a lot of auto attacks and rely more on cool downs. In an average go in mage rogue I’ll maybe land 4-6 auto attacks before I intend to reset so it makes more sense to pick up better stats

In pve though yeah just grab daggers they are just better
