(sublety) need help with actionbar in "dance" mode

Good Morning,

It may seem like a very personal question as we each play with different key assignments depending on how we play but I need help with this.

I’ve been an assassination rogue since I’ve been around under that name and only switched to combat in a few scenarios (no outlaw). Now I feel like trying other specializations although my neuron does not give much, but I want to try  .

The problem is that the change in subtlety from the action bar to stealth when using Shadow Dance is a huge change for everything, since my stealth bar basically in assassination had a few combat skills (just enough for use during the time of subterfuge) and then the typical sap, distract, pickpocketing, etc.

Although it is a topic of each one, could you tell me how you have configured that bar to get a better idea?

I have seen people that what they have done is use macros for the skills and have the bar change disabled, using one ability or another depends on whether they are in stealth (or in the dance mode) and others have everything set to two bars but having to use a lot of modifiers on keystrokes.

How do you see it more comfortable? What buttons do you use on those two main and stealth bars?

Thank you very much

There are no buttons you would never want to press while in Stealth or Dance. Backstab is probably the closest. Could get away with Stealth and Dance too if you click them away instead. Because of this, Stealth abilities can’t replace other abilities whether by stance macro or by bar changing. I keybind everything separately.

My stealth/no stealth bar is the same, works perfectly.

In truth I found the switching bars a huge issue in general, there is a short delay also between the bars swapping which makes it to me a problem

The best solution I have found is actually to disable the switching bar altogether and use macros for any skills you would like to switch around between, this seems to deal with the delay as the bars swap much better

For info on how to do this look up some other macro guides as I’m not on my computer right now to copy any macros I use as examples but in general

[Stance 0] is non stealth
[Stance 1] is stealth or dance

The only skills I have swap are backstab/shadowstrike and my stealth is also my mouse over sap when I’m in stealth already (I found it nice in bgs to have a mouse over sap when I wanna sap someone I dont have on focus or I’m targeting)

/cast [stance:0] backstab
/cast [stance:1] shadowstrike

This (assuming I’ve wrote it correctly as lack reference) will act exactly the same as swapping bars but on one bind, it has the small benefit of no bar animation between ether so you wont actually backstab if you use it too quickly as you push dance

Small side note, might be just me but I put cheap shot on a bind of it’s own, there is nothing worse than accidentally breaking a cc because you miss timed your skill and broke a blind or sap with a damage skill when you intended to stun off it
