Subscription Idea

If WoW were to have new subscription options on top of what we have now would you pay the extra?

Yeah never mind… no need to turn it into a bash fest.

Eugh no.

I’d rather the game was made fun again rather than introducing something as greedy as this.

If they make more money more fun will follow

It would be entirely optional.

Not sure if sarcastic.

And stupid.

We have heirlooms, the game shouldn’t have a petty F2P sub system encouraging you to pay more.

No, such bonuses you suggest is borderline pay-to-win.

Sure, throw more money at them for nothing, that’ll teach them.

You should really start thinking of getting more quality for your money, instead of getting some quality for more money.

OMG that you would even consider this is beyond me.

If you’re a shareholder, sure.
This is just stupidly naive. I think the last few expansions say enough.
I think the last 10 years in the gaming industry says enough.
You would love ‘games as a service’, right?

Like character boost or WoW token?

I would rather pay a little more and have some perks… more exp would be worth it for me.

I do have been wondering if the new bill suggested in the US government would force blizz to remove the character boost if it gets legislated for real since it includes both lootbox and p2w micro-transactions. It might be so that the non-US version will still have those services around.

To be clear I’m not a fan of the item shop blizz introduced in wow since it gives the same vibe as the F2P mmos out there.

And also those games that has subscription with perks also offers you to be able to play the game for free or from buying(i.e. Elder scrolls online, Star wars: Old republic)

I am aware of those other games, but the bonuses are far lower.

If people buy character boosts they use real money. How many that pay freehold boosters are buying tokens?

it’s a mess for sure.

Dear God no! probably one of the worst ideas I’ve seen on these fora in years.

I you mean the bonuses in other games i have to disagree.
After buying ESO and set up a subscription you get access to all expansion and DLCs, and if you don’t want to subscribe you can always buy them seprately.

Beside imo what you’re suggestion is way more pay-to-win than the character boost since most of the game really are focused on the end-game and how you manage yourself when it comes to making gold, pvp, raiding, dungeons etc. But here you suggest players to have a p2w bonus on a monthly basis. 15% more rep? = faster achievements(especially working towards the pathfinder achieve) 15% others who pay for the game have forse farming than the premium players.

I dare say that the mindset you have regarding this topic is unsettling since it basically saying “p2w is fine! I have money to dish out give me my advantage since i have money!”.

This mindset kinds of ruins the experiance in most games when companies try to see how far they can push micro-transactions, just look how battlefront 2 failed miserably when trying to introduce p2w, even Disney wonder what they were doing and also kickstarted the governments(both US and European countries) to investigate and get involved in the gaming industry.

No in eso you can have free access to the dlc as long as your sub is active. You have to buy all of the expansions you want to play.

nah youre just playing in to the hands of those that want pay to win, which would destroy the game. Blizzard have shot themselves in the foot with gold for sub time and that was the beginning of the down slope in to pay to win, and wow is now teetering on the edge of the abyss as blizzard wont stop gold for boosting (not accepting the reality that it is destroying the higher end raiding players) … this would just be another nail in the coffin for this game.

Ok say I want to level a load of characters… I turn on a higher sub for a month… I can switch it back.

Or I can buy tokens with cash and pay 400k per character for Freehold boosting…

Don’t even get me started on looms… they are totally out of reach for a new player. Oh wait! not if they buy a token!

I have 41 120s and haven’t used botting or boosting or mulstiscumbagging or 2 accounts with 1 char on follow etc etc. If you want alts, its easy to do with some effort. If you don’t want the effort, don’t become an altaholic. That’s not an excuse to allow essentially pay to win.
Looms are for older players, not new ones. New ones should be learning an experiencing the game, not rushing through it. that’s blizzards mentality and it is the correct mentality.

If only the story made sense as they were levelling! If anything questing for new players leaves them fed up and confused… what does it teach them about their class with how long they have to wait for abilities?

New players that come to be with mates don’t want to take ages to be able to join friends… so ofc they boost… why level if you don’t have to?

I have spoken to new players that boosted and they ended up with something like a Mage, found it rough and quit… or worse end up in groups and have no clue what they are doing .

Nothing wrong with multiboxing

Let’s be honest - it’s already there.

Sure i might’ve been wrong on that one but still you get access to good content with the sub, but have the choice to instead buy the ones you like without the need to subscribe. And one big difference is you get access to almost everything with no subscription required, just a copy of the game needed.

and you want more?
