Hi there,
I have played World of Warcraft since Classic and have paid my subscription every month since, until now. I unsubbed as none of my friends have been playing due to the slow down of content near the end of a patch cycle.
I would like to resub but I feel like the majority of the subscrption cost is going towards other game (Classic & Remix).
I do not have the time nor do I wish to play them and do not want to be paying a subscription for these games.
Can I please have a reduction in monthly subscription or if not then I have also purchased the Midnight expansion that hasn’t been released yet. Can I get this refunded instead.
Kind Regards
Beanman

The subscription cost has been fixed since vanilla and now you want a reduction due to them creating content that you do not like?
Either show your disappointment by not subscribing or just subscribe and avoid Remix and Classic (which due to the reuse of old content probably takes up less resources than you think).

I think you are forgetting the server costs also
Server costs are probably negligible in the greater scheme of things for a company as Blizzard to be honest.
But let’s play with the idea. Blizzard set subscription cost to the real cost of upholding service for the specific player.
The cost would then probably slightly decrease for classic players (less development and server costs) while the cost for retail players would increase due to more development and more servers.
Some players may be subsidizing others, but I do not think it is the retail players that are the ones subsidizing classic players.
You may get a reduction by subscribing longer in bundles of 3 and 6+ months. If you were to ask for a personalised discount on a month to month basis: No.
They did not raise the price when adding the various other game modes into the subscription as another player remarked (which I think is reasonable).
If it has been longer then 14 days ago no refunds will be given. If it has been less than 14 days ago, and you’ve not made use of any of the Midnight bundled perks, e.g. the mount, pet, early access housing, gametime or Tendies then you may petition for a refund.
And least in eurozone the monthly subscription fee has not gone up at all - still 12.99 euros/month what it was back in 2005 though no doubt Blizzard extracts more money from in-game store, more expensive wow token conversions etc.

Maybe once in the decennium, I think the last price hike was for UK but that was quite awhile ago
Ah look, a thinly veiled bashing thread.
No. Classic is essentially maintenance mode and Remix is done by a tiny team…it ain’t taking your precious pocket change for development away from Retail.
Netflix/ spotify etc increased significantly the last couple of years, WOW at least stayed the same, I appreciate that.

This is starting to become a problem in WoW.
We’re seeing slow and less content, but at the same time, more game modes that are less appealing for me.
For me, the elephant in the room is Player housing. It’s a massive feature that has clearly taken up alot of development time and money. But is something that I really have no interest in what-so-ever. And then the part of the game that I do enjoy playing appears to be getting much less attention than it was before (and always was getting).
I would never have paid for or played a game where this was thing. It really makes it feel like WoW isn’t worth the money I pay for it anymore.

Take a break? Rachel and Ross did it and it worked out well for them.

This isn’t burn out. Besides, I take regular breaks from WoW, since I can’t play all the time due to real life commitments.
I used to look at WoW like a complete package. I could enjoy the game as a whole. Now, I seem to be paying for things that I would never have paid for, and getting less of what made the game good in the first place.
Now alot of the extra features that we pay for

I’m curious, what do you do every other end of patch cycle / right before expansion release? Cause it’s nothing new that content slows down at this stage.
Not 100% sure if you can do this through the loading/character list, so do correct me in this, but when your sub is expired, it gives you the choice of payment the month in gold or via real money.
If still subbed and time is running out, there are multiple ways of generating gold by profession, activities whether PvE and PvP or even crafting with housing decor that can grant a substantial amount of gold, no pun intended.
but I feel like even though some things may not be justified for others, there is a lot of flexibility in how you want to play this game based on your personal time-frames.
Are you seriously claiming this?
WoW’s had faster patch releases than anything prior to DF. There’s literally content coming all the time.
The fact that you don’t like some of that content, is another issue altogether.

I am very serious.
Just because we’re getting regular patches, doesn’t mean we’re getting more content.
We’re getting licks of paint here and there. But the content we’re getting lacks any depth and is usually over within a week or two, or is something reused. It usually comes out untested and full of bugs, and pales in quality compared to what we were getting when we had a 3 month content cycle.
Then don’t play it?
At least I would certainly not waste my money on products or services which I don’t like or I think is a waste of money.

What does this actually mean? Can you give concrete examples of this.
Because saying that is subjective, very much down to interpretation and just vague.
I’m not denying that there’s been more noticeable bugs in patches than before.
But I haven’t run into many very serious things over the course of the expansion.
Anyway, don’t know why you brought up the quality of the content, because that wasn’t what you were talking about. You said ‘slow and less’. Not ‘worse quality’.
‘Slow and less’ just factually isn’t true.
Discussing the quality is another conversation altogether.

Compare Zereth Mortis and Nazjatar to K’aresh.
When you compare those zones, the achievements and depth of the content available to K’aresh, you’ll see a major difference.

This statement is very true.
World of Warcraft didn’t increase the sub cost, it reduced the value of your investment.
I think they understand that in 2025, an era where subscription based games don’t really need to exist, they can’t raise the price but they certainly can water down what you get for it.
